Direct Audio Input From iPod Dock Connector to Honda 1998-2004 Radio w/CD Changer Input Review

Direct Audio Input From iPod Dock Connector to Honda 1998-2004 Radio w/CD Changer Input
Average Reviews:

I bought this device a year ago and installed in my daughter's car. The IPOD plays through it but the tracks change randomly and the car stereo buttons do not operate the IPOD as described. Most of the time a song doesn't finish before the track changes randomly. This happens after 30 seconds of the song or 3 minutes of it, no pattern. Also, the device DOES NOT charge the IPOD while plugged in.
The product operates poorly but the sound is fine, as expected. The device was an easy install but poor operation leaves us using the stupid cassette tape adapter to the headphone port.
I did attempt contact with the seller to remedy this but gave up after a month of waiting. I should have followed through but it's my mistake for dropping the case.
Too Bad, So Sad.

For select 1998-2004 Honda factory radios, this cable provides a direct audio input from any iPod with a dock connector, and it also charges the iPod while connected. By using the dock connector for audio output, the highest musical sound quality is achieved- much better than any FM transmitter or headphone adapter can provide. The iPod's click wheel controls are still used for song selection, play control, etc.Honda Applications: Accord - 1998-2002 Civic - 1999-2005 CRV - 1999-2004 Odyssey - 1999-2004 Pilot - 2003-2005 Prelude - 1999-2001 S2000 - 2000-2003

Kensington Dash Car Mount for iPhone and iPod Review

Kensington Dash Car Mount for iPhone and iPod
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Wow, finally we have found something to work to dock the Ipod in the minivan. We had a Belkin dock for a couple years...the one that plugs into the A/C and has the arm that extends out and moves where you want it. We just always had so much trouble with it staying put. We have an Ipod Classic 160GB, and it is the heaviest model, and the dock would always slip because we could never get it to be tight enough in the A/C plug. It was SO FRUSTRATING! This product is great. It is not a power supply and it does not have an FM transmitter. We use a tape deck to play the Ipod through, so that we get the best sound, so we don't need the FM transmitter. And, we have an A/C plug for the Ipod so we just leave it plugged in while we drive so the Ipod doesn't run down the battery. ANYWAY, this Kensington "arm" dock is so great. It turns every which way so that you can mount it anywhere. We have a van that has a console that sticks out so we actually mounted it on the side of the console, so that the Ipod now sits right next to the radio and the cords can all reach. I really recommend this for anyone who does not need the FM transmitter or A/C connector dock. VERY STURDY, VERY EASY TO INSTALL, VERY FLEXIBLE FOR USE, GREAT DESIGN!!
June 2009 update:
We still love this but wanted to update and say that in the summer, the adhesive just doesn't stick so well...so about every time we get in the van we have to re-stick it. It doesn't ever fall when we are in the car, after we re-stick it and we have the AC going...but just when not in use. So at least it is not putting our Ipod in danger of falling. We still love it and would recommend it.

Justpal (the seller I boughty it from) is misleading the buyers and provides the worst customer support I ever encountered. I bought the product to find out that it only supports the iPhone 2G and 3G (not the 3Gs). In addition, it only supports a bare bones iPhone with no case as the holder is fixed and can not be adjusted. So, if you have a protective cover over your iPhone, forget about this product. I contacted Justpal and after going back and forth, they agreed that I will return the product for a full refund. I sent the product back and since then, they disappeared. They do not return emails and after weeks and weeks, did not yet refund me. Don't buy from them!!!

Kensington Car Charger Deluxe for iPod; iPhone 1G, 3G Review

Kensington Car Charger Deluxe for iPod; iPhone 1G, 3G
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Interesting that Kensington calls the "Deluxe." I don't think it deserves the name.
First, this is a mount and charger. No audio / speaker connections. You plug a separate wire directly into the iPod/iPhone. Not what I was hoping for in a Deluxe model - I want to plug in the iPhone and use the one plug for everything.
The mount: I tried it on a Toyota Highlander - it only works when the 12V connection is on the dash (it is for the Highlander). The arm is only a few inches long so will be limited on where it works. It wouldn't work when the 12V is somewhere below (like a Prius). It does hold the iPhone very well. EXCEPT that the mount rotates too easily on one of the axis. Press a button on the iPhone, rotate the iPhone. Not great for in the car. (I used a hose clamp to lock it down, then it worked OK.)
It does function with the iPhone 3G - meaning it does charge it.
BUT for my setup, it creates a audio feedback loop between the charger and the audio so a huge buzz when it is in the dock and charging. iPhone alone - no buzz, iPhone in dock - buzz. I'm returning this one - if it didn't have a buzz I would have kept it. It could just be the iPhone 3G and/or a weirdness with the Highlander.

Keeping your iPhone or iPod within easy reach--and fully charged--is a breeze, thanks to this deluxe center-console mounted kit. The Kensington Car Charger Deluxe is designed primarily to dock and charge your iPhone or iPod, so you can easily view and access your device in your car while powering and charging it. As a supplemental value, Kensington includes a separate auxiliary cable in the box so you can play music through your car's Auxiliary port. If you're looking specifically for a car audio solution, Kensington offers several products with an integrated auxiliary cable, such as the LiquidAUX Auxiliary Car Kit or the LiquidAUX Deluxe Auxiliary Car Kit. Each provides a streamlined audio solution, charging capabilities, and a remote (as well as a dock, in the case of LiquidAUX Deluxe).

Portable Power Whether playing your favorite music or chatting with a friend, the Car Charger Deluxe keeps your iPhone or iPod charged, usually without having to remove the case.

Hands-Free Conversations With the speakerphone feature, you can have conversations on your iPhone without taking your hands from the wheel.

Flexibility The cradle of the Car Charger Deluxe rotates, enabling you to position the device for either vertical or horizontal viewing, while its adjustable arms wrap around your iPhone or iPod for secure fit.

Compatiblity Kensington's Car Charger Deluxe is compatible with the iPhone; iPod nano (1st and 2nd generation); all iPod generations (1st through 6th); and iPod touch.

Important Note: Sound Effects When using an auxiliary device in the car, you might hear a slight buzzing sound, engine noise, or high-pitched whine. That is because your car model has a grounding issue between the audio system and the power socket, which causes a whining or buzzing sound when you drive. This sound is not caused by your Kensington product; however, Kensington has an easy solution. Simply purchase an automotive ground loop isolator for your car that is compatible with a 3.5-mm jack. This simple tool will enable you to use your music in a safe, hands-free environment.

Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter for iPod & iPhone (Black) Review

Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter for iPod and iPhone (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well, I don't know exactly why the passPORT won't work for the 1-star reviewer, BUT IT WORKED FOR ME! I got a Panasonic CQ-C7303U radio 2 years ago and then the iPod adapter for it over 1 year ago. At that time, I had the 5th gen iPod video, then after that crapped out on me, I got the 3rd gen. nano (8GB). Then I upgraded to the 4th gen. nano almost as soon as it came out, so I could have double the memory (16GB).

Well, once I got the 4th gen. nano and plugged it into my radio, everything worked (it played/controlled through the radio), but I would get this message at the bottom of the nano's screen saying: "Charging is not supported for this accessory". (Or something like that.) And indeed the nano lost battery power much faster than it would listening to music through the headphones. (It makes since that more juice would be sucked up listening to music through the docking port.) Since I mostly listen to my nano in my truck (Panasonic radio), I depended on the radio to keep it charged up instead of having to plug it into my computer whenever the battery gets low. After doing some reasearch on why this was, I found out that for all the newest ipods (4th gen. nano, 2nd gen. Touch & iPhone 3G) Apple changed the way they charge that only allows 5 volt sources (USB, Apple AC adapters, etc.) and no 12 volt sources (firewire and most 3rd party accessories).
To make a long story short (too late!), I found a link to the passPORT, ordered one and plugged it in. I plugged in my nano on top of it and the message at the bottom of it now just reads: "Accessory is plugged in". (Or something like that) After looking real close, the charge icons appear in the battery symbol (showing charging or charged) and when I unplug it, the battery is fully charged or charged fuller than it was before. It kinda sucks to have to pay $30 to get back a feature that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place, but I guess that's the price of progress?
Well...OK, despite the title, I guess I did have more to say than IT WORKS!**UPDATE**: Just bought a 64GB Ipod Touch (3rd Gen.) and the passPORT works just fine with it too!

The Scosche passPORT USB charging adapter allows accessories that do not support USB charging to work with iPod and iPhone.

Firewire-to-USB Charging Pass-Through If you have an older iPod interface in your car, battery backup system, or similar product, you might find that charging is not supported with your new iPod. The Scosche passPORT solves that problem with Firewire-to-USB charging capabilities, providing a 12V to 5V solution for iPod nano 4G, iPod touch 2G, and iPhone 3G.
Using passPORT is simple:
Plug the dock connector into the female side of the passPORT.
Plug the passPORT adapter into your iPod or iPhone.
Select a song from your iPod or iPhone and begin enjoying your music while charging

Great for Vehicle iPod Accessories The passPORT is perfect for older car integration accessories that don't support charging for the iPhone 3G and iPod models released in September 2008 or later. The passPORT is compatible with: several aftermarket head-units as well as Acura, Audi, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Hummer, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Mercury, Mini Cooper, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Pontiac, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Saab, Saturn, Scion, Suzuki, Toyota, Volvo, and VW. (Not compatible with select Pioneer head-units that use the CD-iB100 or CD-i200 iPod to IP-Bus adapter.)
Note: The passPORT is specifically designed to fix the charging error associated with several iPod and iPhone accessories. If the accessory you are intending to use does not initially support the audio or video functionality of the iPod or iPhone, the passPORT will not enable these features.

USA-Spec PA15-HON2 Honda to iPod Interface Review

USA-Spec PA15-HON2 Honda to iPod Interface
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I ordered a USA Spec PA15HON2Y to use my iPhone 3G in my 2005 Accord. I looked at multiple products including a parrot MKi9100 and DICE. Ended up choosing going with a USA Spec and a separate Parrot bluetooth unit (MK3000) since it 1) was price right and 2) offered integration with the factory radio.
My Accord has built in Navigation so I wanted something that would play nice. The USA Spec unit does integrate with my nav and radio. You can set up the USA Spec to display using text of what is playing (Artist, name, category). This will scroll through the upper radio display on the Accord as well as on the Audio menu on the navigation screen. If you want text, it will put the iPod menu on the iPhone into accessory mode and will not allow you to select specific songs directly from the iPhone. You will need to use the stereo controls or the steering wheel controls to scroll. There is the option to give you direct access to the iPod screen (you adjust modes by the pre programmed XM stations ie XM station 1 would be Artist, 2 would be by Category, 3, all songs, 6 is direct ipod). If you do choose to toggle to the direct iPod control, you lose the text - it'll just show as iPod.
The USA Spec unit will also allow you to keep XM functionality in the Accord. The XM stations show up on XM2 mode.... I don't subscribe to XM but can still hear their barker/preview stations.
One concern I had was that I definitely did not want to lose my navigation controls... safe to say it all still works... the Nav still shows maps, etc as well as provides voice directions. It will continue to mute (like it normally does) XM, FM, and iPod music when it gives you directions.
Installation wasn't too bad - took awhile to get everything out (and yes you have to take out the factory navigation to get to the right plug). After you pull out the nav unit, it's plug and play (unplug the blue plug from the back of the Honda Nav, plug in the male end of the cable that attaches to the USA Spec unit, plug in the additional adapter, then plug in the original Honda Nav plug right into the additional adapter (the adapter allows you to keep your XM).
I used some heavy duty auto tape to secure the litte USA spec box on top of the nav DVD drive and ran the ipod cable through the empty slot below (had to cut a small opening). I put everything back together and everything is hidden and seamless (except the adapter cord that plugs right into the iPhone). It does charge the iPhone too!
It sounds great.... (at least the same quality of the CD player). A couple of other great things about the USA Spec - it has another set of audio inputs. I plan on using these eventually when I add video through my navigation to get sound in since all of the video adapters still require another sound adapter. Also, it works great with Pandora or streaming podcasts through itunes (if you're in an area that has good AT&T coverage).I added the Parrot CK3000 bluetooth since I didn't want to have to unplug the iphone to answer it... the iPhone plays nice with both at the same time... if I'm listening to my podcasts and get a phone call, the music gradually softens and the phone rings.
The new DICE silverline units looks like it performs the same way but it was $40 more than the cheapest price I could find with the USA Spec.
Overall, I give this 4 stars and would recommend it.... only thing I wish it would do is also show song text even if it was in direct mode.... maybe this is a limitation on apple's part where it doesn't send text data if your using it as an accessory. Also, each time you plug your iPhone in, you get a nag screen about it isn't made for the iPhone and if you want to turn on Airplane mode to minimize interference... I hit no and it works fine.

8-in-1 FM Transmitter for Apple iPhone (1G & 3G) & iPod Nano Video Touch Classic with LED Display + HandsFree + Charger + Remote Control Review

8-in-1 FM Transmitter for Apple iPhone (1G and 3G) and iPod Nano Video Touch Classic with LED Display + HandsFree + Charger + Remote Control
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this item primarily to play music off my iPhone 3G through my radio but the transmitter is extremely weak. I live and work in the Los Angeles/Orange County area so the frequencies are pretty jammed packed.
Pros:
- iPhone fits nice and snug
- Easy to set up and plug in
- I drive an older BMW and the location of where this cradle sits is perfect
- Navigation with remote is fast and easy
Cons:
- Weak transmitter, at best, I heard about 5 seconds of music/slight static before it went completely out of range and back again
- I can definitely see myself using this while traveling since I believe once I'm in the open, the frequencies will open up more, but definitely not for city use
- Static/transmitter doesn't improve in airplane mode either
I would definitely keep this if only the transmitter was stronger but alas, I will be returning this item and search for a new FM transmitter for my phone.

Griffin AutoPilot for iPod Review

Griffin AutoPilot for iPod
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I emailed Griffin asking if they had something like this for the iphone 3g and they told me they had tested it and it worked perfectly. I ordered it and they were right! It works great. The only issue is it complains that its not iphone compatible but it charges the unit and plays the music thru the audio out perfectly. I also am not detecting any serious cell phone signal issues.
So if you want a fairly compact charger and audio out solution (you must have some sort of audio in on your car stereo, even a cassette adapter will work) then this is perfect. I also use the buttons to pause and change tracks which I thought for sure I would not. Turns out its a lot easier to press the buttons on the charger than on my iphone.

Griffin WindowSeat AUX Windshield/Dashboard Mount for iPhone and Smartphone Review

Griffin WindowSeat AUX Windshield/Dashboard Mount for iPhone and Smartphone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Wow. this thing is the worst product ever from Griffin. I own the original Windowseat and love it. It is very sturdy and rugged. The only problem with the original version is that it is not compatible with the iPhone 4. On Griffin's website, it says that they have no intention of creating an adaptor for the iPhone 4, so I had to bite the bullet and buy a new version that is compatible. I thought I was buying into the Griffin reputation and the original versions durability. Boy was I wrong. This thing is so flimsy that it wags side to side 2 whole inches if you use the included extension arm. On most cars, if you want to attach it to the windshield, you will need to use the extension arm. The ball socket actually broke on me while I was assembling it. All I have to say is that if you plan to buy it, set it and forget it. Because if you need to move it, it will break eventually. The box it came in is worth more than this joke of a product.
On the other hand, the ball joint is the exact same size as the original WindowSeat, so I have trashed the rest of it and will go back to the original mount and use the new appliance holder... until it breaks.
Come on Griffin!!! Make an adaptor or make something that works. This product is a joke! So I guess the joke is on me.

Belkin TuneCast Auto with ClearScan for iPod, iPhone 1G, 3G Review

Belkin TuneCast Auto with ClearScan for iPod, iPhone 1G, 3G
Average Reviews:

After reading lots of reviews on this, I had expected a good product. It was awful. When I pressed the autoscan button, it would scan to stations that were already in use, or partially in use. It rarely scanned to empty stations. I used to have a Kensington digital FM transmitter, and when I tuned to my go-to station, it would work no problem, no static at all. When I tried that same station with the Belkin, I heard static non-stop, along with my music. The only time I heard no static was when I went through a tunnel (obviously, since there's no radio station to interfere). I'm going back to my Kensington - very disappointed with this Belkin model. Note: I live in Fairfield County, and used this on the way to NYC. Maybe it would work better in other areas, but around here, it was terrible.

The Belkin TuneCast Auto lets you listen to your iPhone or iPod through the radio in your car, while it charges.

Cut through the static with ClearScan--your TuneCast will automatically (and quickly) scan the FM spectrum to find a clear frequency at the push of a button. Avoid the frustration of manually finding a clear FM station. When find a couple of favorites, store them with the two programmable preset buttons.
The TuneCast's high-contrast backlit display provides high visibility, and its small size offers flexibility in placement. The device is powered by your car's cigarette lighter/power outlet, and it charges your iPod while you enjoy your music.
The included PRO setting can make your music sound louder and fuller by decreasing the amount of attenuation in the audio signal. Professional FM stations use dynamic compression to make music louder and fuller while limiting distortion. You can use the three PRO settings on your TuneCast Auto to add dynamic compression to your audio, thereby optimizing audio and boosting volume.
The TuneCast Auto is compatible with iPod 4G, 5G, 6G; iPod mini; iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G; iPod touch; and iPhone. What's in the Box TuneCast Auto with ClearScan for iPhone and iPod

Griffin TuneFlex AUX Mount and Charger with SmartClick Remote for iPod and iPhone (Black) Review

Griffin TuneFlex AUX Mount and Charger with SmartClick Remote for iPod and iPhone (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My Griffin TuneFlex AUX with SmartClick replaces a Kensington Liquid AUX Deluxe unit, which my wife accidentally broke while driving my car. I think this sort of accident is much less likely with the Griffin.
The big disadvantage of the Kensington (and the cause of its ultimate demise) were the adjustable arms that clamped on the iPod/iPhone; while it allowed adapting to any model, the clamp and release mechanism were "temperamental". The ratchet mechanism was hard to adjust "just right", and if too tight would rattle loudly as the car moved. It needed to be re-adjusted frequently, as it worked loose gradually. The Griffin in contrast comes with a whole array of plastic "heads" designed to perfectly fit and support various models with no slack or vibration. The heads are unlabeled; you just need to try your iPod or iPhone in each one that vaguely looks like it might fit until you get the right one. If you switch often between various models you'd want to carry the appropriate adapters, and need to switch them out... and the next new model probably won't be covered. (Luckily, I rarely use anything but my iPhone 3G in the car, and it turns out that my daughter's 3rd gen iPod nano can fit the iPhone sleeve. This may however be an issue if, for example, I upgrade to a "next gen iPhone" when such a thing is released, but we'll have to wait and see.)
Like the Kensington, the Griffin has a wireless remote that can velcro onto the steering wheel. I thought this was silly on the Kensington, but found that it quickly became a necessity. The convenience of being able to play, pause, and skip tracks without moving my eyes or taking a hand off the wheel is great. The reliability of the Kensington remote was "inconsistent", however. The Griffin seems to work consistently, but has a very "firm" touch and doesn't always respond when buttons are pressed casually. I do like the button to manually activate the backlight, when it's gone out. The Griffin remote is detachable from a magnetic base, which I find pointless: I see no need to remove it, and several times it's been knocked off accidentally and I need to search for it on the floor.
The flexible neck is stiff and stable, but reasonably easily adjustable; it's longer than the Kensington's neck, and that makes the iPhone more visible and accessible. The AUX cable has jacks on both ends so it can be replaced (unlike the Kensington's). It's much longer than the Kensington's, which might be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your car. (Way more cord than I really need.)
Some glitch in the Kensington occasionally caused my iPhone 3G to complain that the charger wasn't compatible. It still played through the AUX, and charged, but the remote was apparently disabled. Sometimes removing and re-inserting would resolve the problem, and sometimes it wouldn't. I haven't (at least yet) seen that issue with the Griffin, which is a "plus".
Advantages: long stiff neck, easy to adjust; custom fit "heads" for iPod/iPhone models; wireless remote
Disadvantages: custom fit "heads" may mean carrying more than one, and might be a problem for new models down the road; heads aren't labeled so it can be tedious to find the right one; remote is too easily detachable

CAR KIT (BLACK COLOR) - FM Transmitter/ Car Charger and Cradle For Apple iPod / iTouch MP3 PLayer Review

I have to say, I am disappointed. I bought this for my husband for Christmas and it's pretty worthless. The sound quality is horrible when using the FM transmitter, it does not charge the iPod as promised, the part that plugs in to the cigarette lighter moves and our iPod has face planted a few times(ouch!). The cord that connects the iPod to the car (our car has the mp3 port(thingy) in it) works reasonably well. The only problem is if it turns the wrong way you get this loud, awful noise. I say spend a little extra money and get something of quality.

TuneBase FM for iPhone or iPod Review

TuneBase FM for iPhone or iPod

At the time I started researching iPhone car docks this was the best option and that's not saying too much. There were only two or three docks out there that had both aux out and FM transmitter functionality. Most of the reviews I read mentioned the terrible clips that hold on to the iPod and the flimsy necks that flop around on rough roads and I agree. The FM transmitter works well and puts out a good clean signal but is nowhere near the quality you get when you use the aux line out. The "clearscan" feature looks for the cleanest radio channel on which to broadcast and the functions are easy to use. My biggest issue is with the overly complicated use of different clips and rubber pads needed to accommodate the different iPod models, they ship you about 6 of each and they are all incredibly tight. This is probably due to the fact that the base tilts to allow the different models to go into landscape mode but I would have preferred a clamp that can be adjusted. I use a stick on "skin" to protect against scratches and it was nearly impossible to insert and remove the iPhone withou a lot of effort and the skin is only a few millimeters thick. I ended up heating up the clips to get them to open up a bit. Some people have reported the clips breaking within a few days of use, but "bending" them out has allowed them to function problem free for a few months now.
I really miss my old DLO Transdoc but it isn't compatible with the newer iPods and iPhone that don't support firewire charging.

Black 8 In 1 FM Transmitter Car Kit with Remote and Car Adapter for ATT Apple... Review

UPDATE - Be aware that there are different models of these and Amazon lumps at least two of them together as item ASIN B002ECB0Q0. I bought another one from Bargaincell, it turned out to be extremely low quality, all cables broke at the connector molding within weeks. The first one I bought, from CrazyOnDigital is still working fine.
I bought this 8 in one FM transmitter car charger cradle for iPhone 3gs, Amazon item ASIN B002ECB0Q0.
The cradle holds the phone securely, the charger works fine, the FM transmitter works well, and the remote control works also. If the price wasn't so low, I may have given it fewer stars but this thing is a great value so I forgive its minor quirks. The cradle holds my phone in a good position in my '07 Civic, your vehicle may be different so consider your layout before ordering.
The cradle seems fairly robust, no phone slippage or cradle rotation in the lighter socket so far.
The FM transmitter can be set to any frequency on the dial. I've owned several transmitters and this one is the best. It works even on frequencies that have stations with weak signals on them, this is unusual for consumer FM transmitters. It may be that my unit is a particularly good one but hopefully all of these are good. The FM transmitter can be set to several preset stations and those can be selected with the remote control to avoid interference while traveling, this is a nice feature.
A downside to this unit with an iPhone is that it does not advertise it is shielded from GSM noise to the phone. When you plug it in, the phone says the device is not designed for iPhone and asks if you want airplane mode. If you leave the phone radio on, you will occasionally hear GSM interference on your radio speakers, not very loud though. To avoid that problem altogether, it also has an audio out 3.5mm port and comes with a six or eight inch cable to plug in to your car's aux port. This works fine if your car has one, no GSM noise at all.
Another downside is you have to point the remote at the top of the unit to get it to work, a small annoyance. It does not come with a manual. If you need one, pass this unit up.
For me, so far, so good I like this unit.

Rca Rc59I Clock Radio with Ipod Dock Review

I saw this for sale at a local store, so I thought I would do some digging for information. Unfortunately, there is almost zero. It doesn't say it anywhere online or on the box, but this will indeed charge your iPhone 3G. It's possible that they did not want to pay for licensing. Since it will charge the 3G, it should charge all of the new non-firewire iPods (Nano 5G, etc).
It's nice and compact, but certainly sturdy. Once you take a leaf through the instruction manual, it's very easy to use. Not one of those things I recommend to start pushing buttons feet-first, because you'll probably be woken up at 2:30am by accident.
What else can I say about it? It charges my iPhone, plays pretty well (a 5.1 system this isn't), has an aux-in for a Zune, etc, has dual-alarms with 3-4 different options each. If you're looking for a cheap replacement for your firewire-charging alarm clock, this is a good choice.

Everything about this product works great except for one important item. First the good things:
1. The transmitter is strong and crisp
2. Works with the iPhone 3g
3. The arm is great - moves around to wherever you wish. Very sturdy.
4. You only need to insert the jack for hands free calling (only need the charger to listen to music).
Overall & originally, I was overjoyed at how well this product worked.
Now, the bad:
1. It doesn't swivel so that you can put the iPhone in landscape/coverflow mode... Not a big deal though... But what IS a big deal:
2. The unit actually "beeps" about once a minute. Sometimes you can hear it really well (listening to talk radio), and sometimes not at all (but usually you will hear at least one beep every five minutes or so). I wrote the MediaGate Tech Support, and their reply was:
"The reason for it beeping every 30 seconds or so is in order for the FM transmitter and FM radio to stay active and not in idle mode, it requires the unit to beep. This is a normal feature but unfortunately there is no way of turning this off."
I'm not sure if I am going to return this yet; but I have a feeling it could go one of two ways... Either it drives me insane, or I just start not hearing it like a grandfather clock. I'll try it for another couple days and see how I feel...
