(More customer reviews)I purchased this item two years ago. Save your money and skip it. It is garbage. It kept disconnecting every two minutes, and I had to reset everything to reconnect. I thought I had a faulty unit and got it replaced, same result. STAY AWAY.

(More customer reviews)Well, I don't know exactly why the passPORT won't work for the 1-star reviewer, BUT IT WORKED FOR ME! I got a Panasonic CQ-C7303U radio 2 years ago and then the iPod adapter for it over 1 year ago. At that time, I had the 5th gen iPod video, then after that crapped out on me, I got the 3rd gen. nano (8GB). Then I upgraded to the 4th gen. nano almost as soon as it came out, so I could have double the memory (16GB).

Well, once I got the 4th gen. nano and plugged it into my radio, everything worked (it played/controlled through the radio), but I would get this message at the bottom of the nano's screen saying: "Charging is not supported for this accessory". (Or something like that.) And indeed the nano lost battery power much faster than it would listening to music through the headphones. (It makes since that more juice would be sucked up listening to music through the docking port.) Since I mostly listen to my nano in my truck (Panasonic radio), I depended on the radio to keep it charged up instead of having to plug it into my computer whenever the battery gets low. After doing some reasearch on why this was, I found out that for all the newest ipods (4th gen. nano, 2nd gen. Touch & iPhone 3G) Apple changed the way they charge that only allows 5 volt sources (USB, Apple AC adapters, etc.) and no 12 volt sources (firewire and most 3rd party accessories).
To make a long story short (too late!), I found a link to the passPORT, ordered one and plugged it in. I plugged in my nano on top of it and the message at the bottom of it now just reads: "Accessory is plugged in". (Or something like that) After looking real close, the charge icons appear in the battery symbol (showing charging or charged) and when I unplug it, the battery is fully charged or charged fuller than it was before. It kinda sucks to have to pay $30 to get back a feature that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place, but I guess that's the price of progress?
Well...OK, despite the title, I guess I did have more to say than IT WORKS!**UPDATE**: Just bought a 64GB Ipod Touch (3rd Gen.) and the passPORT works just fine with it too!

(More customer reviews)I have tried and returned more than a few fm transmitters. Before buying this model I was fairly satisfied with the discontinued "Universal" Belkin tunecaster, which fit into the earphone jack of any mp3 player. However, due to not so smart design (constant cord stress above the connector plug) the wire frayed and I had to replace it.
I subsequently bought the 'updated' model (exclusively for ipods) which now plugs into the base, thereby charging the player at the same time. First off, it was quite arduous finding a suitable frequency for this unit, and even when I did, it never held onto it for very long. During the 30%-35% of the time it worked properly, the sound was acceptable... but the rest of the time was interference, hissing, bleed-in from neighboring frequencies and, consequently, looking for free wavelengths and readjusting the transmitter.
What's more, the controller goes all over the place- and even though there's a mounting attachment, the "ideal" spot seems to vary constantly, and so is of limited use. This was in 3 three different vehicles, by the way.
After further research, I took a leap of faith as a result of good reviews from a handful of consumers on a "Radio shack/The Source" web-site (I found no other reviews on the web!).
It cost half as much as many other models (including the Belkin), but man, how nice is it when a device delivers on what it's supposed to do?
It completely took control over (and held) the very first frequency I tried and, save for between tracks, there was virtually NO background noise or static. The only 'quirk' I found was a boosting of bass which caused some distortion in the speakers. This was immediately remedied by lowering the ipod volume (which was on high), and compensating with the volume in the car.
Very happy with this purchase.

(More customer reviews)I've been using this product for a month now. I gave it 4 stars because my gripes are relatively minor. For one, on a sunny day the LCD screen can be almost impossible to read. I've had occasions where I've had to physically cup around the LCD in order to guess at what station I'm on. My other problem is with the uncomfortable placement of the USB port on the device. The port is right on the side of the device so I have to put my usb cable in it before I put it in the cigarette lighter. The usb cable will be bent all over after use.
The device however really works as it should. A few design flaws don't change that. Make sure to find a station with very little signal out on it already and you'll get nice sound. Not CD quality or anything but I think it's been better than the Griffin ipod car dock I used to have (that I can play my Zune, my old Ipod Nano, and my cousin's sirius portable).
I've attached the usb cable to an old usb hub I had laying around so I can power multiple devices on the very rare occasions that I do. I recommend using an old hub either way so you have your usb slots available to you at any time. Even an extender will do well for you.
If the manufacturer made one with a nicer LCD screen and a more comfortably place USB slot, I think they'd have a winning product just on the versatility alone.

(More customer reviews)I bought the device for use with my 1st-generation Ipod nano. It didn't work so I took it back to the store for exchange. The second device also didn't work - I then discovered that it worked when connected with the headphone plug (not with the USB cable, which the instructions state is for all Ipods except Ipod shuffle).
Otherwise, the sound quality is tolerable but not great, which seems to be the norm for this type of device.
