Crazyondigital Premium Essitial Bundle for iPod Nano (5th Generation) Review

Crazyondigital Premium Essitial Bundle for iPod Nano (5th Generation)
Average Reviews:

So the cords, cases, speakers & whatever in this bundle are fine, not super great quality obviously. The thing that sucks is I cant get the fm transmitter to work. Ive tried every possible cord configuration, the thing turns on and blanks out the selected radio station, but no music will ever go through from my ipod. also, after the AAA batteries in the thing went dead (i mustve not turned it off the last time i tried messing with it), it wont turn on, i hoped that maybe it would be able to get power from the lighter plug in thing, but apparently thats not the case. some directions would have been helpful. so now i have to go buy a different radio transmitter which basically made buying this whole package a waste of money.

Magellan Maestro 4370 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator Review

Magellan Maestro 4370 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had so many portable GPS units, it's not funny. I've had one of the first Tom Tom and about eight or nine others including Pharos, Garmin, Nokia, and several lesser brands.
These boasted of being accurate, having media players, blue-tooth, fm transmitters, etc.
My recent gps was a Nokia. Who knew they made one. Big mistake buying it. The blue-tooth was terrible at best. Part of this being the speaker. The fm transmitter was absolute garbage. It did a terrible job putting it on any channel. The media player was a joke. The USB connector for the power had five metal prongs, bare prongs. Everyone else has them mounted on something so that one of the prongs won't get bent like mine did. Not worth fixing since it wasn't considered a defect.
Some of the other units I've had had had poor mounting systems that allowed the unit to bounce or was a pain to have to re-mount if I moved it from one vehicle to another. Most have stupid gooseneck mounts, which you can never seem to position correctly and which bounce slightly when you drive. Some used a proprietary charger. Most came with just one charger and no case.
Some of the units had poor graphics or too much on the screen. Most you have to manually turn on and off in the car. Some had the software on a SD card. If you wanted to put music on it, you needed a new and bigger SD card and you had to move the software over to the new card.
Anyway, the best piece of advice I can give anyone is to buy a GPS at a store where you can return it, even if you have to pay a 15% restocking fee. The Nokia I bought recently was a POS but because I bought it online, I could not return it. If I had bought it at, say Best Buy, I could have returned it, even if it meant paying $20 - $25. I wouldn't have been stuck with it.
Now on to this Magellan, the 4370, which is a newer model of the 4350. First of all, Best Buy had it on sale for $149, which was a great price. I bought it knowing that I would have no issues paying 15% of the price for re-stocking if I didn't like it.
The bad (cons) first:
1. Doesn't show your speed.
2. Weird location for the plugs; there are two. One for the headset which doubles as the antenna port and the USB port for charging/power. They are on the right side of the unit with the headset port above the USB port. The USB cable is angled to the bottom so it points to the front windshield.
3. Included case is a POS. It's not an enclosed case for one thing.
Now all the good stuff (pros). Pay attention because this is important stuff most of you have no idea of.
1. Great graphics or at least very clear because of the higher resolution screen.
2. Easy mount to use since it's basic. The suction cup is small but holds this thing really well on the dash. By the way, for you folks in California, the law is that you have to mount this puppy on the lower left area of the front windshield. Don't mount it in the middle of the front windshield or anywhere where it can interfere with the driver's view to the front. The mount is firm but again, can be positioned easily. Plus the pivot points have teeth so once you tighten the mount, it will not move at all.
3. Great price at Best Buy. (That was important to me, although even at full price it was nice.)
4. Comes with home and car chargers.
5. The software is stored internally so the SD slot is available for all the pics and music you can store on an SD card. I have an 8GB card with lots of music and lots of pictures.
6. You can play music and still navigate or play pics and listen to the turn-by-turn directions or turn the music off.
7. The FM transmitter works well, even on strong signal stations.
8. Blue-tooth is good and even does texting on the GPS screen. I have never heard of that.
9. Volume is loud and you can change the voices (different races and gender).
10. This is a big one for me. TURNS ON AND OFF by itself in the car if you use the cigarette/car adapter. No more having to turn it on or off manually.
11. The satellites are picked up very fast.
12. The names of the streets are pronounced.
13. Comes with a case. It's not very good but good enough to put in your glove compartment.
14. Easy menu to use.
15. Tells you what path to take when the road forks before you get there.
16. Bright screen during the day and changes to a screen that is easy to see at night.
17. Lots of options for use, including the ability to immediately see where you are using GPS coordinates.
18. AAA Roadside and other AAA information readily available.
19. Once you get to your destination, it tells you that you are there and it's done. Some GPS units start telling you to turn around right away.
So far, I think this is the best GPS that I've had, especially the graphics. Hope this helps.

Pyle FM Modulator For Mobile DVD's - PLMD2

I bought one of theses hoping to add the ability to listen to my mp3 player on my older clarion stereo, Well it does work but I have to crank up the volume on the mp3 player almost all of the way and also crank the stereo up very high and even after messing with various EQ settings the sound is horrible, Ear splitting highs and no lows at all.
I almost blew my out speakers and had a heart attack since I had forgotten the stereo was turned up almost all of the way when I switched the source to cd.
Nice.

Tuneflex Aux NANO2 Flex Cradle Charger with 3.5 Audio Cable Review

Tuneflex Aux NANO2 Flex Cradle Charger with 3.5 Audio Cable
Average Reviews:

I originally thought that this unit would charge my iPod, as well as mount it in my vehicle. When I received the unit, however, I found this not to be the case. On a more positive note, it does hold the iPod in a convenient location, and does have a 'pass-thru' port that allows a charger to be connected. The price I paid was ridiculously low, so I can't possibly complain.

Griffin SmartDeck Intelligent Cassette Adapter with Dock Connector for iPod (White) Review

Griffin SmartDeck Intelligent Cassette Adapter with Dock Connector for iPod (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I really, really wanted to like this product, but it was not to be. I bought it for use with my '05 Toyota Sienna. Here is a structured list of comments, marked + or -:
(+) Compatibility: the cassette drive accepted the product without spitting it back out. So far, so good.
(-) Appearance: white looks good in the package, but a bad, bad choice in the car. That white cable is pretty ugly hanging down from the cassette drive and I think it advertises to potential thieves that there might be an iPod in the car.
(+) Auto-play: the adaptor is supposed to start the iPod when the cassette starts. This worked fine.
(+) Auto-stop: the adaptor is supposed to stop the iPod when the cassette stops. This worked fine.
(-) Auto-forward: the adaptor is supposed to skip the iPod forward a track when the cassette fast-forwards. This didn't work.
(-) Auto-reverse: the adaptor is supposed to skip the iPod backward a track when the cassette rewinds. This didn't work.
(-) Reliability: the day after I bought it started emitting very loud static that made the music almost inaudible. I returned it for a replacement.
(-) Sound quality: very, very poor. This is really the deal breaker. Low-level static afflicted both the original unit and the replacement. This really shocked me. My generic cassette adaptor was much better than this. And so, the smartdeck went into the trash and I've resumed using the generic adaptor.
(-) Conclusion. I would strongly recommend against buying this product. I can't imagine how Griffin can justify selling it. It will be a long time before I consider buying anything more from them.

Kensington 33365 Pico FM Transmitter for iPod 5G and Nano (Black) Review

Kensington 33365 Pico FM Transmitter for iPod 5G and Nano (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Yes, it will transmit the music from your iPod to you car stereo. But will it equal the sound quality of having a direct connection? No way. This isn't really a criticism specific to the Kensington. None of these devices consistently deliver great sound. I have tried four or five different brands, in two vehicles, both with very good quality receivers and speakers. At best, you get sound quality that I would grade a "B." You tend to lose volume and dynamic range. And unless you live in a very remote area, you are periodically going to get static interference from other radio stations and maybe other electronic devices.
Bottom line, this is a nifty unit in the sense that it is so small and connects to the bottom of a Nano. But don't expect CD quality music. Also, if you have this unit connected, you are using the Nano battery to power the transmitter, and you can't connect a charger at the same time.
Best bet: Get a car stero with an auxiliary "line in." If you can't, you might actually get better sound with a Sony cassette adaptor.

I absolutely love this transmitter. I originally used the iTrip from Griffin and was constantly having to change stations whenever I traveled just an hour away from my home. This item, however, has clarity and quickly takes over the FM station of your choice. The best stations to choose are ones with very little interference from another stations, but don't choose the stations with just a lot of static. The feature that allows you to save two particular stations that work the best for your car is extremely useful.

Arkon SF100 SoundFeeder Powered Audio Adapter Review

Arkon SF100 SoundFeeder Powered Audio Adapter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After trying a half-dozen or so similar products with no real success, I finally found this one. Once you accept that none of these transmitting products are going to deliver perfect reception all the time, this is the about as close as I've found. The signal strength is better than most battery-powered units. The ability to power both the audio device and the transmitter off of the same plug in your cigarette lighter means that the unit will pay for itself in the saved cost of batteries pretty quickly. Being able to select almost any FM frequency means that you won't run into problems with interference from any local stations. The only real downside is the old-fashioned dial you use to select the transmitting frequency, which is somewhat imprecise and requires some fumbling. Still, it's better, and cheaper, than the alternatives.

Belkin All-In-One Accessory Kit for iPod Review

Belkin All-In-One Accessory Kit for iPod
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm thankful I bought this product at Costco, because I could take it back for a full refund. The idea is appealing, and a good deal - you get a lot for a good price. But on closer inspection, there are a couple of significant problems:
1. The contents are redundant.
- Cassette adapter gives better sound than FM transmitter in many cases. If you have a car with a cassette player, you wouldn't need the FM transmitter. If your car doesn't have a cassette player, why would you buy a package with a cassette adapter in it?
- Similarly, at home, you'd get better sound on your stereo by using the cables vs the FM transmitter, even if you do have a tuner.
So unless you plan on using your ipod in a car with a cassette player, a car without a cassette player, and with your home stereo system, having cables, a cassette adapter and the FM transmitter is redundant. You may come out cheaper by buying the components you need separately.
2. The case is TERRIBLE! Honestly, if the case had been good, I would've overlooked the redundancy and likely kept the entire package. But the case was a key component for me. The case in this package covers the iPod on the front, back, sides, and bottom. Since the belt clip swivels, to prevent the iPod from falling out of the top, the case has a suction cup (no joke!) on the inside of the back panel. The case opens up in a flip-down style by un-velcro-ing the side panels. You nest your iPod into the case, sticking it to the suction cup, flip the front of the case into postion, and stick the side velcro strips together. Between the case itself, the suction cup, and the bulky belt clip, the iPod is more than twice as thick in the case as it is alone. It's also significantly wider.
My advice - keep shopping.

Kensington RDS FM Transmitter/Auto Charger for iPod (Black) Review

Kensington RDS FM Transmitter/Auto Charger for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I also live in Northern California like another reviewer of this product. I live in the North Bay and work in Oakland, so there is high density traffic on the radio. However, I found a couple stations that worked ok, and one that works terrifically (93.1)!
This product was easy to set up in my Prius, the plug holds just fine, and yes, it does give you the band and song information on the car's built-in screen. I didn't expect that, so that was a nice surprise.
The reason why it's 95% satisfaction and not a 100% is that I'm not getting CD quality. There is some static, but it's that very minimal static that you got from a cassette tape that had been used for a year or so. You immediately forget about it, though, because the sound is really great anyhow, and you're so happy that you don't have to deal with crappy radio music and commercials. But I don't know, maybe there's a better station that I haven't found yet that eliminates the static completely.
One other thing - the volume control on my iPod nano does not work when it's plugged into the car. You have to manipulate the volume through the car stereo only. And the volume on the radio stations come out louder than your iPod music, so you'll have to adjust as you switch between the two.
Enjoy.

You've never heard sound this great from an FM transmitter this small before. The Kensington 33364 RDS FM Transmitter/Auto Charger for iPods plays your iPod wirelessly through your automobile's FM stereo, on any FM station, while simultaneously charging your iPod, making it ideal for listeners who want to enjoy their favorite songs with the quality of their vehicle stereos while driving.
This unit includes such features as Aerielle wireless technology for superior audio and noise filtration; ClearFM circuitry for richer lows, crisper highs, and better stereo separation; the utilization of your high-resolution iPod LCD screen for easy viewing of station information; and RDS FM technology. Radio Data Systems (RDS) is a sub-frequency of FM radio that gets sent along with a normal music signal, and allows text to be displayed on RDS-enabled radios. The Kensington patent-pending RDS FM Transmitter will digitize song information, such as song title and artist name, and send it via RDS to a car stereo along with the music. RDS is now available in various vehicle models offered by leading automakers, as well as many modern after-market car stereo systems.
The Kensington 33364 not only charges your iPod while it is in use, but includes an on/off switch to prevent battery drain. This transmitter has a black body and stainless-steel accents to complement your car's interior, a unique design to fit most hard-to-reach car power outlets, and easy-to-use pre-sets to lock in your favorite stations. Best of all, the unit requires no software, or cables and wires to your stereo, so playing your favorite iPod tunes in your car is as easy as 1-2-3.

For select Pioneer radios with a CD changer input, this cable provides a direct audio input from any iPod with a dock connector, and it also charges the iPod while connected. By using the dock connector for audio output, the highest musical sound quality is achieved- much better than any FM transmitter or headphone adapter can provide. The iPod's click wheel controls are used for song selection, play control, etc.

Hand Free Car Mount Speaker and Charger For iPhone 2G 3G - Hands Free calling Review

Justpal (the seller I boughty it from) is misleading the buyers and provides the worst customer support I ever encountered. I bought the product to find out that it only supports the iPhone 2G and 3G (not the 3Gs). In addition, it only supports a bare bones iPhone with no case as the holder is fixed and can not be adjusted. So, if you have a protective cover over your iPhone, forget about this product. I contacted Justpal and after going back and forth, they agreed that I will return the product for a full refund. I sent the product back and since then, they disappeared. They do not return emails and after weeks and weeks, did not yet refund me. Don't buy from them!!!

I recently broke another transmitter made by this company, but I was happy enough with it to buy another product from them. This is a complete redesign of the product, with the flaws removed. Nice job!
Pros -
Self adjustable for a good fit
Charges most ipods
Can be used with other devices (no charging) such as my shuffle or a non ipod
Comes with a good assortment of docking clips for a tight fit
Very good reception, overpowered several stations in area. Generally no static.
Compact and attractive.
Very affordable, mine was $44, s/h included
Cons -
Buttons and display are quite small, don't adjust while driving
How well you will be able to view your screen depends on location of your cupholder
Have to remove my case to dock the nano
No wall plug, cigarette only - can't use out of car without power adaptor
Overall, this is an excellent value for the price and I am very satisified with it.
