For select Pioneer radios with a CD changer input, this cable provides a direct audio input from any iPod with a dock connector, and it also charges the iPod while connected. By using the dock connector for audio output, the highest musical sound quality is achieved- much better than any FM transmitter or headphone adapter can provide. The iPod's click wheel controls are used for song selection, play control, etc.

Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter for iPod & iPhone (Black) Review

Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter for iPod and iPhone (Black)

Well, I don't know exactly why the passPORT won't work for the 1-star reviewer, BUT IT WORKED FOR ME! I got a Panasonic CQ-C7303U radio 2 years ago and then the iPod adapter for it over 1 year ago. At that time, I had the 5th gen iPod video, then after that crapped out on me, I got the 3rd gen. nano (8GB). Then I upgraded to the 4th gen. nano almost as soon as it came out, so I could have double the memory (16GB).

Well, once I got the 4th gen. nano and plugged it into my radio, everything worked (it played/controlled through the radio), but I would get this message at the bottom of the nano's screen saying: "Charging is not supported for this accessory". (Or something like that.) And indeed the nano lost battery power much faster than it would listening to music through the headphones. (It makes since that more juice would be sucked up listening to music through the docking port.) Since I mostly listen to my nano in my truck (Panasonic radio), I depended on the radio to keep it charged up instead of having to plug it into my computer whenever the battery gets low. After doing some reasearch on why this was, I found out that for all the newest ipods (4th gen. nano, 2nd gen. Touch & iPhone 3G) Apple changed the way they charge that only allows 5 volt sources (USB, Apple AC adapters, etc.) and no 12 volt sources (firewire and most 3rd party accessories).
To make a long story short (too late!), I found a link to the passPORT, ordered one and plugged it in. I plugged in my nano on top of it and the message at the bottom of it now just reads: "Accessory is plugged in". (Or something like that) After looking real close, the charge icons appear in the battery symbol (showing charging or charged) and when I unplug it, the battery is fully charged or charged fuller than it was before. It kinda sucks to have to pay $30 to get back a feature that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place, but I guess that's the price of progress?
Well...OK, despite the title, I guess I did have more to say than IT WORKS!**UPDATE**: Just bought a 64GB Ipod Touch (3rd Gen.) and the passPORT works just fine with it too!

Using passPORT is simple:
Plug the dock connector into the female side of the passPORT.
Plug the passPORT adapter into your iPod or iPhone.
Select a song from your iPod or iPhone and begin enjoying your music while charging

Great for Vehicle iPod Accessories The passPORT is perfect for older car integration accessories that don't support charging for the iPhone 3G and iPod models released in September 2008 or later. The passPORT is compatible with: several aftermarket head-units as well as Acura, Audi, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Hummer, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Mercury, Mini Cooper, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Pontiac, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Saab, Saturn, Scion, Suzuki, Toyota, Volvo, and VW. Note: The passPORT is specifically designed to fix the charging error associated with several iPod and iPhone accessories. If the accessory you are intending to use does not initially support the audio or video functionality of the iPod or iPhone, the passPORT will not enable these features.

Soundfly-i Ultimate iPod / iPhone 4, 3G, 3Gs Auto-scan Fm Transmitter Charger with RDS & Remote Control Review

Soundfly-i Ultimate iPod / iPhone 4, 3G, 3Gs Auto-scan Fm Transmitter Charger with RDS and Remote Control

I like the design of this product very much, but it suffers from a fatal flaw. The transmitter is weak. This is in direct conflict with what other reviews say. Also, the unit only broadcasts from 88.1-107.9 -- other websites and the back of the packaging claim its capable of 87.6 to 107.9.
From this, I think I know why the transmitter is so weak. Apparently, this unit originally did not comply with FCC regulations and probably was a very strong transmitter that could do the full FM frequency. At some point, apparently very recently, the FCC probably forced Satechi to remedy this and now it can no longer do 87.6-88.0 and no longer broadcast a signal powerful enough to be received from more than 6 yards out as the FCC requires.
If you look at reviews on Amazon, you'll notice the FM transmitters made by companies you've never heard of all get the high 5 star reviews while the ones made by big name brands (like Monster and Belkin) get absolutely trashed in the reviews. This is because ANY FM transmitter that actually complies with FCC regulations is garbage in a large city with heavy airwave saturation. The cheap chinese ones rarely comply with these regulations cause they constantly change brand names, anyways. The bigger players usually do play the by the rules and their products suffer as a result.
In this case, I suspect Satechi has recently been forced to start playing by the rules based on the transmitter I received. The weak signal and newly restricted (at least it appears to be a new change) frequency range are dead giveaways of this.
Sadly, that makes the unit hard to recommend. It's not Satechi's fault, but this transmitter just sucks in terms of signal strength (which means static *all* the time and an inability to broadcast "over" another signal if you can't find an empty frequency). Great design, but unless you live out in the middle of nowhere you probably won't be able to hear your music without static.

Satechi CR -3600 car holder mount for iPhone 4, 3G & 3Gs, BlackBerry Torch, HTC EVO, DROID, Samsung EPIC on Windshield and Dashboard Review

Satechi CR -3600 car holder mount for iPhone 4, 3G and 3Gs, BlackBerry Torch, HTC EVO, DROID, Samsung EPIC on Windshield and Dashboard

A few weeks ago I was looking for a mounting solution for my iPhone in my Dodge truck, and was intrigued by the description and reviews I saw of this one. A few days later, it arrived & I began experimenting with different ways to mount it. The more ways I tried, the more I realized how versatile of a mount this is. My mounting location of choice was the overhanging lip of the dashboard, above and to the right of the steering wheel. However, the dash is composed of sort of rippled, patterned plastic, and I seriously doubted that I could get any kind of suction cup mount to work.
Amazingly, the "Smart Pad" that comes with this mount solves this problem perfectly, although it is not very well described in the enclosed instructions. The Smart Pad is simply a tacky, very soft rubber-like disc, which is placed between a non-uniform mounting surface, and the suction cup mount. Somehow, by applying suction against it from the suction cup mount side, the soft surface against the non-uniform mounting surface conforms to that surface and maintains suction against it. Once I figured this out, I successfully managed to mount my iPhone just above and to the right of steering wheel. I set it up so that it was easily visible while driving, got good GPS reception through the windshield, and was easily touched from my right hand, even while holding on to the steering wheel.
But, how well would it hang on to the overhanging lip, and how long would it stay? The true test came right away: a drive from from Arizona to Alaska via the Alaska Highway - four days of normal road vibration, followed by about two days of rough roads with potholes, and frostheaves. The result: it didn't come off even once. I had to worry about mosquitoes, shifting trailer loads, and high gas prices. But never about my iPhone coming loose.
A couple of weeks later, it continues to hang on tightly. No longer do I have to fumble around with my iPhone to change songs, or try to wrestle it out from in between the seats, where it's slid into on a corner.
Overall, a convenient mounting option for the iPhone that is versatile, well-made, and easy to use.
