The PA11 series iPod interfaces provide direct connection for an iPod plus an optional audio source such as satellite radio, DVD, or video game system. Both the iPod and the additional audio source are selected from the factory radioâ??s front panel. The interface adapter connects the iPod to your factory radio as if it were a CD changer, allowing direct selection of iPod playlists through the radioâ??s preset (or disc) buttons and is compatible with iPod models featuring the dock connector, including the iPod nano and 5G iPod video. For XM ready or equipped radios, the PA11VETTE also displays artist/title information on the radio's front panel. There are two operating modes available for the interface, Playlist Mode and Direct Mode. Playlist Mode uses the controls on the factory radio to provide basic navigation functions including song up/down, playlist up/down, repeat, shuffle, scan, and FF/REW functions. Direct Mode uses the iPod's click wheel to navigate through the iPod's menus and select songs, artists, playlists, etc. and the radio buttons are used only for volume, bass and treble. Both modes still charge the iPod while connected, and stops one hour after the iPod is paused to prevent over-charging. Applications: Chevrolet Corvette - 2005-2006Chevrolet Equinox - 2005-2006Chevrolet Uplander - 2005-2006Cadillac SRX 2005-2006Cadillac CTS - 2005-2006NOTE: The PA11VETTE is only compatible with XM-ready or XM equipped vehicles.

The item was purchased for my husband's iPod nano, but we ended up using it for my older model iPod mini instead. It was extremely difficult to connect the iPod nano to the transmiitter properly. 5 stars for the mini, 1 star for the nano.

Sony CDXGT240 MP3/WMA Player CD Receiver (Black) Review

Sony CDXGT240 MP3/WMA Player CD Receiver (Black)
Average Reviews:

I haven't had this thing for long but so far my experience has been wonderful. I had been using off-brand stereos up until I bought this and I was absolutely amazed at how much better the sound quality was after they installed it.
Even in my old '91 Accord with stock speakers, this thing gets LOUD and the sounds is clear and crisp. The Equilizer is simple but effective and it's easy to change the custom setting without really even looking so you don't have to worry about driving unsafely.
The design is nice and solid and the detachable face plate actually houses all the controls so the stereo is useless when you take it with you (some off brands don't do this).
The knob is the volume control, not the radio tuner. I personally love for the knob to be volume so you can quickly turn it down if you get pulled over or something.
Overall I'm very happy with this stereo, the sound quality is absolutely amazing for the price. The fact that you can burn MP3 CDs and have as many as 300 songs per CD is a major plus. Added to that is the fact that it has a 3mm AUX Jack in the front so you can listen to ANY MP3 player or music device that also has a 3mm output via a male-to-male 3mm cable!(You can play iPods, Portable Cassette players, Portable CD Players, Portable DVD players etc.). Minus one star because the display has a very narrow angle of view in the daylight and since the whole thing has a 45 degree tolerance you may not be able to see it well in the daytime.

Scosche Wireless RF Remote Control and FM Transmitter/Charger for iPod nano 1G Review

Scosche Wireless RF Remote Control and FM Transmitter/Charger for iPod nano 1G
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Scosche remote w/ "transmitter/charger" is falsely represented. Through hours on the phone & computer - many communications w/ Amazon reps and w/ the manufacturer(s), I've learned that Scosche long ago discontinued the "transmitter/charger". These "sets" being sent out contain transmitters w/ no charging function. (nothing on the package says "charge".) The solution is for Amazon to advertise what they actually have - i.e. change their sales material on the website to say "transmitter" and not include the charging function. (you'll still need a car charger or your ipod battery will run down). By the way, the sales material also says something like "compatible w/ all ipods" which it would not be even if it had the ability to charge: I've learned from apple that in determining if a charger can charge an ipod nano "generation 4", the charger has to connect to the nano through the 32 pin connector, not the earphone jack - the nano gen 4 cannot charge through the headphone jack.
Amazon phone representatives are not familiar w/ these products. It would be helpful to future customers if Amazon sales people had access to this information, instead of each customer having to go through this education process. (As I've now learned from a friend here in my own town who went through the exact same thing trying to order an automobile charger for her ipod nano Generation 4 through Amazon.) And, the english of 3 out of 4 of the Amazon phone reps was very difficult to understand (the 4th was a pleasure - so keep trying.)
Like the previous reviewer, the case did not fit my Ipod nano and I had to alter the clear plastic cover of the case w/ a grinder to get it to fit.
I need a remote to control the music when I teach dance - the 60GB ipod that I started with had a very short life, and supposedly this nano will last longer since it does not have a moving hard drive inside - therefore I need a remote that works w/ the nano. This is apparently one of the few (maybe only) RF remotes that will work w/ the configuration of the ports on the bottom of the nano Gen 4. The range on this remote is a little under 100' and not the 150' advertised, but now that I know that, I can adjust when I'm teaching - it seems adequate. The music has a significantly lower volume when connected through the remote than when it is connected directly to the sound system. (not an issue when connected to an amplifier, only an issue in the car.) And, the volume control on the remote does not work when the ipod is connected to the sound system through the remote (Ipod in remote case connected to a charging base station w/ sound system connected to the base and not the earphone jack of the ipod) I've not found a thin enough headphone jack w/ a 90 degree turn to hook the sound system up directly to the nano while its in the charging dock, but it seems like the volume control on the remote may work if I find the appropriate cable.

Play your favorite iPod nano playlists through your car's stereo speakerswhile simultaneously powering and controlling the device with this combination remotecontrol and FM transmitter/charger combo pack. The FM transmitter is easy to use:simply find an empty frequency on your FM dial--meaning a frequency that gets noreception--then tune the transmitter to the same channel. The music will then playthrough the selected station, negating the need for a cassette deck adapter, auxiliaryinput, or other wired music transfer device. The remote control, meanwhile, features a RFreceiver that plugs into your nano's dock connector, where it passes on such commandsas play, forward and reverse, shuffle, or select playlist. The range is an impressive 150feet, making it a handy tool for controlling your nano in the home as well as the car. Thereceiver also offers pass-through functionality for connecting a charger or integrating aBluetooth device.
Finally, the unit's charger (integrated within the FM transmitter) plugs into your vehicle'scigarette lighter to keep your nano fully juiced as you drive. The FM transmitter/chargerworks with all iPods (it connects to the unit's 3.5 mm headphone jack), while the remoterequires an iPod nano with a dock connector. The unit, which also comes with a hardcarrying case and an RCA to 3.5 mm cord, is backed by a 90-day warranty.

This item is pretty damn great I must admit. It works. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is the irritating remote that you have to use just to turn it on and off. The sound quality is good in my car but if I turn it up using the remote while it gets louder the static gets really bad. Speaking of static unless I turn up the volume with the remote there isn't any. I don't have to change radio stations all the time! Last thing I wish the neck were flexible. Where my lighter is in my car makes where the iPod sit kinda awkward it's straight up and I can't read the songs. Still a great product.

Monster MPC FM XMTR RadioPlay FM Transmitter for Portable Audio Players Review

Monster MPC FM XMTR RadioPlay FM Transmitter for Portable Audio Players
Average Reviews:

Money well spent! I bought a similar product that worked on batteries. Needless to say that ate batteries like crazy - when you use it every day twice a day for a 42 mile one way commute to work... (I listen to a lot of books on tape & CD) When that finally died (the wires broke inside), I found this little gem! Plugs into the 'cigarette lighter', and since I have a Subaru, I don't have to worry about unplugging it to save the car battery. (I can see that being a problem for people who have vehicles with electrical systems that stay on when you turn the vehicle off - that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 - for my needs, it's a 5 all the way!) On the whole, the sound is fantastic - I use it with a casette player, a cd player (as the one in my car died), and my daughter's Ipod. You cannot tell the difference between the real radio and the broadcast. There is a good selection of stations to choose to from, and it's easy to slide from station to station if needs be. I've never found a reason to change my chosen broadcast station.
All in all - a great buy for the buck! (much cheaper than getting an entire new radio for the car just to listen to my books)

Belkin TuneCast II FM Transmitter for MP3 Players (Black) Review

Belkin TuneCast II FM Transmitter for MP3 Players (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all, all FM transmitters cause noise on the receiving end, if you turn volume up enough. And don't expect the sound quality to be better than your FM radio itself. It will be worse. If possible, use a wired option such as a "cassette connector" for car. That said, wireless transmitters do offer convenience, and some are better, while others are worse, depend mostly on unit's output power, range, and station selections. After trying out 4 of them personally, I found station selections to be the most important in getting good quality sound on your radio. Hence, the Belkin TuneCast II is the best out there. As far as I know (in the price range I search), it is the only one on the market that offers full frequency digital tuning (Arkon offers transmitters with full frequency analog tuning - SoundFeeder 150x).
Here is a summary of my review on the four transmitters I tried.
Belkin TuneCast II:
+ full frequency digital tuning with 0.05 stepping
+ 4-station memory
+ dual power (battery and DC)
+ auto on/off
+ good output and range
+ LCD display
+ cord storage on unit
- USB power will be nicer, as I have my own USB2DC adapter
- LCD not lighted
iRock 400FM
+ dual power (battery and DC)
+ good output and range
- only 4 preset stations
- dangling cord
- kind of ugly
Arkon SoundFeeder 250
+ good output and range
+ cord storage on unit
- only 8 preset stations
- battery power only (spec claimes 60hr, but I seriously doubt it as others with similar battery could only last 10-13hr)
SIIG Music Adapter Pro
+ dual power (battery and USB, could be tripple if you have your own USB2DC adapter)
+ ok output and range (volume is kind of low)
+ lighted LCD
+ cord storage on unit
- claimed to have 9 preset stations with autoscan, but it was so hard to operate that I could only verify 5 stations through manual stepping, and autoscan does NOT pick up the best station
- battery compartment very hard to open
- DO NOT BUY THIS, even though it looks good, and has good spec
Here are some personal tips on any FM transmitter setup:
1) If your radio and transmitter allows 0.1 stepping, choose an even frequency station such as 88.40, since very very few stations broadcast on even frequecies.
2) Make sure your MP3 files have loud enough volume, so you don't have to boost your MP3 unit or radio's volume too much. High volume magnifies noise. There are many software out there that fine tunes MP3, including volume.
3) If you have to boost volume, boost MP3 unit's volume instead of radio's. High radio volume causes more noise.
4) Always make sure you have new battery or are using DC adapter. Low power forces you to turn up volume, and it in turn causes noise.
5) In general, songs fair better with these transmitters than solo instruments, as noise could become more obvious on the later.
