Scosche RF Remote Control for iPod classic 5G, 5.5G (Black) Review

I purchased this remote for my Ipod Video (30GB). When I first took it out of the box, I was very happy, its color is the same as my iPod (black) and it also has the same width.
The unit fits OK with the iPod and the remote control is small and cool, but I found some flaws:
1. The unit easily disconnects if you maneuver the iPod in the car, for example, and I don't mean a drastic movement.
2. The remote control, it says up to 150ft.... yeah right, that is NOT true, even within the car (I have a small car) if you don't point the remote directly to the unit, it won't work. It also is kind of slow when you push the button to change a song and when the iPod actually change it.
The reason I rate this with 2 stars is because the unit, when it works, takes away that uncomfortable task to change the song by touching the iPod itself.

I have a Gmini 400 (Which is a great product by itself) I decided to purchase this as a little add on and...
it is great! easy controls once you get used to it. I enjoy being able to leave my player in my pocket and still scroll through all of my music files.
The radio is a little sensitive since your headphone cord is the antena but still a cool add on (you can record off the radio with a simple click)
I love this product and recomend Archos products!

Griffin Airclick Mini Remote Control for iPod Mini Review

Griffin Airclick Mini Remote Control for iPod Mini
Average Reviews:

This is another brilliant item from the folks at Griffin Technologies and I suspect that it will supplant the iPod Remote from Apple that I currently use when riding my motorcycle. Why? It's wireless. Better yet, it's RF (radio frequency) wireless instead of infrared. Indeed, this is the first remote control for the iPod/iPod Mini that uses RF instead of infrared. This means that it does not need line of sight/directly pointed at the iPod but instead can work through walls, backpacks, etc. The unit comes with a clip as well as a mounting piece/holder for the remote - you can use it as an armband or to mount on handlebars, etc.
Other plusses are that the radio operates at 433 mHz - not likely to be subject to, or cause, interference with cordless phones, microwaves, cell phones, wireless routers, etc. as it is in a different frequency band from those items. Also, the fit is tailored to the iPod mini - like the iTrip, it fits flush and square to your mini - a nice, clean solution and it has a headphone passthrough (which is to be expected).
I do have some minor nits to pick. First, the headphone passthrough is not compatible with Griffin iTrip. You could use another FM transmitter (like the Belkin TuneCast (ick)), but you cannot use the very nice iTrip. I mostly use the iTrip in the car though, where I do not typically need or use a remote - so I do not expect this to be an issue for me, but it might bug someone else. Second, this is a five function remote for a seven function iPod. The FF, REW, Vol +, Vol -, and Play/Pause functions are replicated on this remote, the Menu and Select functions are not. Accordingly, you cannot navigate menus or between playlists, etc. This is not really a Griffin complaint, but an Apple issue as I don't believe Apple allows for a seven-function remote implementation (as all remotes I have seen are five function plus a hold switch). Third, the remote (really any wireless remote) will use some additional amount of your mini's power. Finally the 60 ft. range is probably overstated and is only for the most ideal conditions - no walls, etc.

Griffin 4023-ACUSB AirClick USB for Mac and PC computers Review

Griffin 4023-ACUSB AirClick USB for Mac and PC computers
Average Reviews:

I'm using it with an old G4 Mac running Tiger to control iTunes and the OSX DVD Player. I only needed it to work in the room the Mac lives in because I just use it to control the volume, pause and skip on iTunes and the DVD Player. One oddity was that I need to reboot if I remove it and plug it in again for the Mac to see it. The other thing it took me a while to notice is that it seems like the granularity of the volume control is very course (10 steps) but if you hold the volume button down at the limits it actually changes the overall volume of the system so it's more useful than it seems as long as you don't mind the largish steps. It also took me a few minutes to realize it installed an icon on top of the screen that is used to select which app it is controlling. So it's not perfect, but it does what I wanted.

Scosche Wireless RF Remote Control and FM Transmitter/Charger for iPod nano 1G Review

Scosche Wireless RF Remote Control and FM Transmitter/Charger for iPod nano 1G
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Scosche remote w/ "transmitter/charger" is falsely represented. Through hours on the phone & computer - many communications w/ Amazon reps and w/ the manufacturer(s), I've learned that Scosche long ago discontinued the "transmitter/charger". These "sets" being sent out contain transmitters w/ no charging function. (nothing on the package says "charge".) The solution is for Amazon to advertise what they actually have - i.e. change their sales material on the website to say "transmitter" and not include the charging function. (you'll still need a car charger or your ipod battery will run down). By the way, the sales material also says something like "compatible w/ all ipods" which it would not be even if it had the ability to charge: I've learned from apple that in determining if a charger can charge an ipod nano "generation 4", the charger has to connect to the nano through the 32 pin connector, not the earphone jack - the nano gen 4 cannot charge through the headphone jack.
Amazon phone representatives are not familiar w/ these products. It would be helpful to future customers if Amazon sales people had access to this information, instead of each customer having to go through this education process. (As I've now learned from a friend here in my own town who went through the exact same thing trying to order an automobile charger for her ipod nano Generation 4 through Amazon.) And, the english of 3 out of 4 of the Amazon phone reps was very difficult to understand (the 4th was a pleasure - so keep trying.)
Like the previous reviewer, the case did not fit my Ipod nano and I had to alter the clear plastic cover of the case w/ a grinder to get it to fit.
I need a remote to control the music when I teach dance - the 60GB ipod that I started with had a very short life, and supposedly this nano will last longer since it does not have a moving hard drive inside - therefore I need a remote that works w/ the nano. This is apparently one of the few (maybe only) RF remotes that will work w/ the configuration of the ports on the bottom of the nano Gen 4. The range on this remote is a little under 100' and not the 150' advertised, but now that I know that, I can adjust when I'm teaching - it seems adequate. The music has a significantly lower volume when connected through the remote than when it is connected directly to the sound system. (not an issue when connected to an amplifier, only an issue in the car.) And, the volume control on the remote does not work when the ipod is connected to the sound system through the remote (Ipod in remote case connected to a charging base station w/ sound system connected to the base and not the earphone jack of the ipod) I've not found a thin enough headphone jack w/ a 90 degree turn to hook the sound system up directly to the nano while its in the charging dock, but it seems like the volume control on the remote may work if I find the appropriate cable.

Play your favorite iPod nano playlists through your car's stereo speakerswhile simultaneously powering and controlling the device with this combination remotecontrol and FM transmitter/charger combo pack. The FM transmitter is easy to use:simply find an empty frequency on your FM dial--meaning a frequency that gets noreception--then tune the transmitter to the same channel. The music will then playthrough the selected station, negating the need for a cassette deck adapter, auxiliaryinput, or other wired music transfer device. The remote control, meanwhile, features a RFreceiver that plugs into your nano's dock connector, where it passes on such commandsas play, forward and reverse, shuffle, or select playlist. The range is an impressive 150feet, making it a handy tool for controlling your nano in the home as well as the car. Thereceiver also offers pass-through functionality for connecting a charger or integrating aBluetooth device.
Finally, the unit's charger (integrated within the FM transmitter) plugs into your vehicle'scigarette lighter to keep your nano fully juiced as you drive. The FM transmitter/chargerworks with all iPods (it connects to the unit's 3.5 mm headphone jack), while the remoterequires an iPod nano with a dock connector. The unit, which also comes with a hardcarrying case and an RCA to 3.5 mm cord, is backed by a 90-day warranty.

I finally was able to turn my iTouch (2 gen) into a radio, and I am very happy with it. It instantly controls my iTouch mp3 songs, and FM radio. It will even list the artist's name and song while listening to the radio. Phenomenal. And, the wire/cable is long enough to put the iTouch in a backpack and have the player (Controller) clipped to your shirt or bag strap.
