I received the Flash player yesterday.
And I must say... meez likes.
Very light, big screen, nice graphics, no antennae piece on the back or bluetooth like the harddrive version.
The sound quality is very good. I hooked it to my 'real' Vibes and was most impressed. I have had a few players and this definitely has to be the best of the bunch as far as ease of use. It's definitely a must for any one with Rhapsody. I just can't believe it took this long for something like this to come around!

Archos 3 Vision 8 GB Video MP3 Player (Red) Review

Archos 3 Vision 8 GB Video MP3 Player (Red)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
this review was updated on 12/27/2009.
my archos 3 vision absolutely meets or exceeds my personal requirements for an mp3 player!
times are tough so when my mp3 player was stolen in july 2008, i honestly tried to use my aging windows mobile phone with windows media player as a replacement player for over a year. however, that solution had several limitations and frustrations. there were workarounds, but i grew tired of them.
the stolen player was an archos g-mini which i had owned for several years and i really appreciated it's features so that is the main reason i shopped for a new archos player first. the archos 3 vision player has all of those same features with heaping helping of style, storage and added features.
pros:
- it has style
- priced under $100
- plenty of storage space
- fits comfortably in all pockets
- good quality video on beautiful screen
- random play by folder, artist, album and genre
- better than average playback quality with a good equalizer
- total access to music at all times (without proprietary software)
neutral:
- battery life
- no firmware updates yet
cons:
- screen scratches quickly and easily
- the on screen control dial is almost useless for browsing tracks
the screen is beautiful and will also scratch quickly. my device had a 0.25" scratch within 24 hours of use, but i could only see it when the device was off. luckily, i have lots of screen protectors so cutting one to fit was easy. i could not see the scratch unless the screen was off. with the protector on, the screen looks much less beautiful.
the on-screen dial is certainly not the easiest navigation interface i have ever considered. if you prefer to use random play or pregenerated playlists, the on-screen dial will likely never be a concern for you. however, if you require the ability to browse through every song on your device so you can carefully consider which track is worthy of your listening time at this very moment, this device is not for you.
a couple bugs that i expect to be remedied with firmware updates...
- the button hold function sometimes requires a redundant switch on and off in order to switch off properly.
- the device will not remember my personal background picture; i select a picture, but when i turn the device on again, a different default background is displayed and my personal background picture is still available quickly by cycling through the default selections.
when i posted this review, i had owned the player for 2 months and the video features were basically useless to me. i thought i would occasionally use video playback during long train rides or plane trips, but music is really all i need... i knew i had paid a price for the feature so i felt committed to actually using the video playback and realized 1 very good use when i thought ahead to load it with a few downloaded holiday shows that i knew both of my youngest kids would enjoy. i also purchased a cheap speaker carrying case and the result is that watching shows on daddy's player was a hit during stressful holiday road trips and it is not something they will expect for everyday driving.
however, i still could live without video playback and i have recenly had a chance to play with the archos 2 vision player, which a friend purchased as a gift to himself. it has a screen that is barely big enough for showing id3 tags, but if you do not need and will not use video playback, i highly recommend that player because it has the same basic player features for about 40% less price. that player also has a simpler control scheme for browsing tracks.

Great device and easy to use. Mine came charged with a tutorial loaded in the video file. The guy on the video walks you through all the functions of this player. It comes with a program to convert videos, a program to link your device with music through Rhapsody. The sound is great and the videos look great, and of course, you can't beat the price!

Ematic Surge 8 GB HD Video MP3 Player with 4.3-Inch Touch Screen Review

Ematic Surge 8 GB HD Video MP3 Player with 4.3-Inch Touch Screen
Average Reviews:

Great little video player. Plays high definition AVCHD MP4 downloads from YouTube. Also plays MOV's, MP4's and AVI's from cameras. With the TF slot I can take microSD's out of my HD camera, plug it directly into the video player, and navigate to the pictures and videos on the chip. The microSD comes up as a second disk drive.
Great file compatibility, but MOD files from my Cannon Flash HD camcoder do not play directly. However, if you change the file extention From MOD to MP4, they play fine at full 720P resolution.
If you want to play music on the move, get another small MP3 player. Music playback is excellant quality, but the touch screen is sensitive and can't be deactivated for operation in your pocket. The screen does go to sleep, but if you put it in your pocket, various features and playback navigation can be inadvetently activated.

It's exactly what i paid for.
People may complain that the screen is cheap, but it works just fine for me. Just don't pound on it and it works fine.
There isn't a games feature like the picture shows, i don't know if that's just because i bought it with 4g.
The camera is horrible, and it slows down my 2000 nt.
Accessing music in folders is slightly difficult.
I do have my suspicions that this is one piece of media equipment different companies have modified, because you will see the exact same build for all the other non apple touch screen mp4 players on here.
It doesn't come with a case and the company isn't advanced far enough to provide accessories, but unlike pro ebiz, it has a website and support.
When they ship, you don't get an email. It just comes.
The speaker quality isn't great, but the headphones are great. Too bad they break easily.
It does what it says it does. Plays my songs, videos (mine only plays .avi) and provides me with a radio. The picture player is jut for kicks.
Voice recodings have great quality too. But the calendar is just a calendar, no organizer.
The ebook feature isn't too great and the interface isn't customizable.
But a big plus is that the charger is a usb converter like many people pay $20 for.
I would suggest this to anyone who needs a BASIC mp4 player. If you like to modify and customize, this isn't for you. It is worth more than you pay for.

I have been on the fence for a long time, not wanting to pay too much, but wanted color screens and photo capability.
Pros
I can fit it in a pocket or purse easily.
Music transferred smoothly.
Great FM radio reception.
Very nice design, and user friendly
Cons
It does require a computer to charge. So not ideal for travel use.
I did have a few problems installing software.
If the Converter does not install, close everything then open the disk files and open the Converter folder and use the installation file from that. I think the regular set-up tries to do too much at a time.

Average Reviews:

Before I get to the scathing portion of my review, let me highlight the positive things this player has to offer.
***THE POSITIVES***
1) Excellent sound quality. When this player works, the sound it produces is amazing. Philip's Full-Sound Technology offers exactly that: full, three-dimensional sound that gives my music previously unknown depth and clarity.
2) Excellent headphones. In fact, I'm buying the first set that I find, now that I've returned my Philips in favor of Sony's far superior 8 gig player.
..........................................................................
--Please note, the first two negatives are persnickety. The last three are essential.--
***THE NEGATIVES***
1) Player is overly dependent upon the Rhapsody cd. Seriously, it won't work without it. This wouldn't be as problematic if the cd or the setup guide warned you about this, but such is not the case. Instead, the cd-related portion of the setup guide serves as an ad for Rhapsody. I find this practice unethical, as it usurps the user's needs in favor of making a sales pitch.
2) Deceptive drag-and-drop. When I finally installed the components on the cd, I noticed that Microsoft Explorer was suddenly able to see my Philips mp3 player as a device. Furthermore, it could see folders within the player. "Fantastic!" I thought. "I can drag and drop!" Wrong. While it's true that you can drag and drop folders into the player this way, once the information is copied to the player the organization they once had is lost. There are ways around this obstacal, but they all are painful to execute, painful to describe, and painful to read about.
3) Slow load times. There is a noticeable lag that occurs when turning the player on or browsing through music, videos, or pictures. If you're listening to music while you browse, this effect is compounded. Sometimes it even causes your song to skip.
4) Frequent freezing. The thing that really set me against this player is that it freezes. A lot. And by a lot I mean that it froze on me once per session for the last week that I had it.
5) Problematic updates. In an effort to resolve my player's freezing issues, I opted to update my player, but this just made things worse. After updating, the pause feature ceased to function. Whenever I tried to resume a song from a pause, the song would restart from the beginning. It was at this point that I decided "enough" and returned the player.
***CONCLUSION***
The Philips 8 gig mp3 player caused me one problem after another. As soon as I solved one issue, another would arise. I estimate that once all was said and done, I probably spent close to 10 hours trying to get this thing to work. What's more, I was unsuccessful. So unless you are seeking a thankless challenge, do not buy this device.

Philips GoGear Muse 16 GB MP3 Video Player with Month of Rhapsody Music and Free Audible Audiobook (Black) Review

Philips GoGear Muse 16 GB MP3 Video Player with Month of Rhapsody Music and Free Audible Audiobook (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Muse has a very bright, detailed screen and a terrific sound. The active noise cancellation, when it decides to kick in, is very nice. However, after a year of use there are two areas of annoyance of which you should be aware prior to purchase.
Firmware issues:
Although the Muse will organize audio clips/tracks from a CD by track number if the file is an .MP3 file, it will default to listing tracks alphabetically by track title if the files are in .WMA format. And that is the track title in the IP3 header, not the file's name. It makes no difference as to what track number is stored in the audio file's ID3 header in a .WMA album - the tracks will always be sorted alphabetically. The simplest way around this it to create a playlist for the album with the tracks in the correct order and use the playlist instead of the album play process. Or edit the track title in the ID3 information and preface each track with the track number.
Also, it sounds as if the firmware turns off/suppresses the audio amplifier between tracks and doesn't enable it again until after the next track begins to play. The result is that you'll miss the first few notes of any track where the music begins immediately. Short of editing every MP3 to add ¼-second of silence before any audio, there is no work around.
The above was discussed with Philips tech support, and using a playlist with WMA's was their only suggestion. Philips has yet to release firmware that addresses either problem, and given the age of this product, it is unlikely they ever will. Presumably, this problem afflicts the entire GoGear Muse line of products.
Finally, the Muse's ability to record directly from the FM radio has been disabled - but only for US customers. According to Philip's tech support, for copyright reasons. (A friend's SanDisk Sansa Fuze will record FM directly, so go figure.) If purchased abroad, recording from FM is enabled on the Muse. You can record using the built-in monaural microphone.
Video/audio Conversion Software (ArcSoft) Issue:
The bundled audio/video download and conversion software has locked default settings into a profile file for the Muse which cannot be edited or overridden. (If this bothers you enough you'll have to purchase the retail version, find a different converter or go without.) In many cases you can just load the video files directly into the Muse using Windows explorer, avoiding the conversion process -- as long as they're recorded at 30 frames per second and the file is in a format that the Muse plays naturally.
The default conversion settings that irked me are:
Screen size. The Muse's screen is 400x240 pixels, very nice for HD and widescreen video material. However, if the video is in a smaller aspect ratio, such as old television and film clips, the conversion software will stretch the video to fill the Muse's screen as much as possible. This distorts the original video and looks bad. There is an option in the conversion software that says "Stretch" and is check-marked. But it cannot be un-check-marked.
File size. When converting video the software tries to convert the source material into the best audio and video quality possible -- even if the source video clip is of poor quality. The result for me, in several cases, was that the resulting video file to be played on the Muse is 2 to 3 times larger than the original file. When you're dealing with mega-megabyte files, this impacts how much video you can store on the player.
File Extension. After ArcSoft conversion, the video file will have a different extension -- i.e.: StarshipGroove.PVI -- which means it is only playable on the Muse and not your computer. However, it turns out that it is still an AVI file, so you just need to rename it -- i.e.: StarshipGroove.AVI -- to play the converted file on your computer. This is just an annoyance and not a problem, per se.
*****
For the most part, I'm happy with the Muse - but, just to have the video capability and the active noise cancellation ear buds. (I just wish that Philips would revise the firmware.) If you just want an audio player, however, this unit is probably not for you.

I bought this player about a month ago and use it every day. It has all the features I looked for after shopping around for about two weeks. The display is crystal clear with very good definition. What sold me on it was the fact that it has a customizable EQ, a GOOD radio, easy to use controls that are rugged and have a solid feel. The file system is great, so you can set up your folders to find what you want when you want. The sound is truly amazing! You can't do better for the money!

Latte Espresso 4GB Touch Screen Portable MP Player (Gun Metal) Review

I got a 16G on Amazon's Lighteing deal. It was a fair amount of discount and I couldn't resist it. I am thinking about buying a 4G memory for my friend's birthday gift.
My product review is below for the espresso 16G.
1. Screen is 3" but descent quality when brightness is high.
2. Sound quality is one of the top that I have used if I compare with my other unit(Archos 7).
3. Touch screen reacts very fast, unlike Archos 7. I think it is because of the difference between HDD and NAND Flash speed. But I needed to re-calibrating to make it work better.
4. FM transmitter is very useful in the car.
5. Screen flipping feature is handy only viewing pictures. Sometimes, it is annoying because response is very sensitive.
6. I don't have to convert the video which is good, but for certain movies, I had to resize to thier specific size to avoid video/audio lagging.
7. Not expensive and full of features.
8. Stereo earbuds are better than my Koss.
9. Battery life is reasonable. I can fully charge and use it for 3 days.

Philips GoGear 4 GB Vibe MP3 Video Player with 1.5-Inch Color Screen Review

Philips GoGear 4 GB Vibe MP3 Video Player with 1.5-Inch Color Screen
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
With a large outdoor project looming on the horizon I decided to purchase an MP3 Player to listen to my tunes as I work. After a lengthy review process both locally and online I finally decided to purchase the GoGear Vibe 4Gig player.
Overall I am very happy with my purchase. It plays my music very well. I even hooked it up to my full over ear headphones and some external speakers and it did quite well. I really enjoyed the equalizer feature as this did an excellent job of improving the music that I like to listen to. There are multiple presets based on Music Genres plus there is a custom setting as well. I advise you to try all the presets as I found the Rap setting improved my tunes the most, though that isn't the music I listen to. The controls are well laid out though the front panel toggle can be a bit twitchy causing mistaken key presses.
The device synch's very easily with your PC and I use the standard windows explorer to edit the files that are on it. The Rapsody player it is bundled with is a bit annoying. Take care when you have the Windows media player synch with the device for the first time. The darn thing went across my entire hard drive and synched every single WMA it could find! My only complaint with that is that it isn't perfect. It took compilations and created folders for each and every artist who was involved making it almost impossible to listen to the work together. Plus I have some older works that I have collected from several different sources that it insisted on making up lots of folders that would contain only 1 song in it. Then it would simply confuse some tracks and place them in the wrong folders. The best way I have found around this is to edit all those songs back into 1 folder to play those selections from the folder option and not the artist option. So far it has randomized my tracks well and I haven't been able to detect a pattern. I would like to try track editing software to attempt a more professional solution but I haven't tried this yet.
I'm afraid I can't evaluate the player for anything other than an MP3/WMA player as that is all I have been using it for although the album art does show up rather well on the very tiny screen (The screen is about the size of those keychain photo viewers.) I did use the FM also and it works well. The device has no expansion slots so you should make sure your music can fit in the 3.6 Gigs of formatted space. I don't have a massive collection of music so 4 Gigs was enough to carry my current collection and still leave a good amount of space for more music or some snapshots. I use the Phillips athletic armband carrier (Not included but I recommend it)to lug it around as it has no belt clip, but the carrier does a great job of protecting the device and gives you easy access to all of its features.
It plays for a very long time on a charge. I have let it run for better than 8 hours and it was still going. I don't yet know how long it will play before it needs a charge. It recharges very easily from a PC USB port fully in about 3 hours. It does have an extremely short recharge cable that only measures 4.75" long from tip to tip, but I have found any standard large port to small port USB cable (Like those of camera stick readers) allows it to recharge. The headphones that it comes with do an okay job of playing but they bothered my ears after a few hours so I bought some JVC in the ear buds for it that I like much better.
A Word of Warning! Only use the reset button in absolute emergencies. I used it casually to try to get it to the set time function and completely locked the player down! It would refuse to do anything after that. I thought I was going to have to take it back to the store, but I was able to get the Philips GoGear VIBE Device Manager to finally see it (Hold the + portion of the volume control down until it sees it) and it was able to update the firmware and restore the device to working order. This was great except it completely erased the Player! I had to restore my entire collection to the device again.
Other than that 1 hiccup (caused by me) the device has performed flawlessly ever since and I am really enjoying it. It has an excellent array of features compared with devices that cost twice as much.

Pyrus Electronics 8gb Touch Multimedia Player with 4.3 Inch Touch Screen and Built in Wireless in Car Fm Transmitter Review

Pros=I have been through about 6-7 music players including the one this replace, a (Microsoft Zune 8bg) which was good except for the software which destroyed my music. When I got this, I was impressed at all the goodies it came with. It has a nice thick and heavy size to it, and the 4.3 inch screen is immaculate for watching videos or viewing photo's which is a major plus in my books. Has a lot more features than my Zune, plus an (MicroSD) slot for more memory(have 2GB card in)for a total of (10GB). The player allows you to set your own pictures as the background, which doesn't say that in the above info, but I was really hoping for such a feature because my Zune has the feature. I loaded all my (PC) wallpapers and their and the quality is amazing and the load/movement times are pretty good. The audio quality is pretty excellent as well, although not the best. The dual headphone jacks is a wanted plus, as well as the built in speaker which emits excellent sound considering it's only a portable speaker. I love the Black metallic look to it. The controls are fairly easy to use now[after a day of frustration].(lol). Overall, this is my first-ever touch-screen player and I am very satisfied!!!
Cons=The player tweaked out on me and then the controls went haywire and got out of whack(and yes I charged it for 8 hours first and every-time) and were not responding. I would have to push an area on one end of the player to get a button like Pause, forward, backward, or the middle of the player for song-time scroll during play, etc; I recently charged it last night and the player froze and was flashing like it was short-circuiting and wouldn't even hold a charge even though it clearly said it was charging on the screen, come to find out after inspection via testing with another charger, that the charger was bad or could not handle charging the player anymore[although worked fine charging my Zune], which is no big deal since I have a fancy universal(iCharger)anyway. Anyways, for some reason after that problem, I managed to get the player charged enough to hit the reset button, and for some reason all my problems were cured and the controls are back to normal.(It's not much of a con, but personal)that the push-and-slide controls take some getting used to. I would've liked just simple touch controls, but it's not big-fret once you get used to how the player operates. It says it has a built-in (FM Transmitter), but I searched all over and there is now (FM Transmitter) listed per-say in settings, etc; so if anyone knows the exact place, name, how-to-operate, etc; of this feature please let me and us know!!! The screen is nearly impossible to see in the daylight outside, even on the lowest light setting, which is a pain always having to stop in shade to change something. Overall, nothing to drastic except for that one problem and glad I didn't have to (RMA) the player[could've been my fault as well], because I really like it!!! Misc Info= I suggest people keep close tabs on their stylus-pen because I went to an apt the day after I got this, and lost the stylus-pen, and now I have to use the cap from my writing-pen as a stylus type gadget.(extreme-lulz).
Excellent product, and advise people to get this over any Ipod or Zune, both because of the price and the features, as well it's a touch-screen!!!
Thanks Amazon and the seller!!!

This devices comes with a stunning 4.3 inch large LCD Touch screen. Most touch screen mp3, mp4 players out there have single point touch screen, which means the touch points on the screen are just like buttons. You will have to touch the designated points to send commend. One example will be to increase the volume, you will need to touch the + button on the screen. However, this device comes with a multi points touch screen. In the example, to increase the volume, you will move your finger across the volume bar and drage the volume up. You can play MPEG4, WMV, AVI, RM, RMVB, Dvdrip.Xvid, DivX or FLV stream (YouTube) files directly on this device without the need for conversion. Most MP4 or MP5 players out there do not play MPEG4, WMV or DivX formats. This is a huge improvement over the older models. Please note: license protected files (like iTune video or movies purchased from some websites) will NOT play. Some video files with high resolution might need to be compressed to 400 * 240 or lower to maximize the performance of the device. It automatically organizes your MP3 files into different artists, styles, genre and album based on ID 3 tag information. You can even add songs into My Favorite to create your own play list right on the device. The video quality is crispy clear. It can play videos in full screen mode. With the 4.3 inch large screen, you can enjoy your favorite movie and video clips on the go. It has 4 built in fun games. What is more? It has a built in FM transmitter. Now, you can hook it up to your Car Radio system and play music through your car speaker system without any additional cables. We are 100% confident you will find it the best buy for your money.

Latte Espresso 16 GB Video MP3 Player with Haptic G-Sensor and Touchscreen (Metal Gun) Review

Latte Espresso 16 GB Video MP3 Player with Haptic G-Sensor and Touchscreen (Metal Gun)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Have been using Latte Espresso for 2 months now
Here are some of findings which might help other people's buying decision. Anyway, I am satisfied with this purchase and would recommend this to anyone who wants to use MP3 in daily life.
Pros
1. Design: Very simple. No buttons, Good quality case.
2. Touch Screen: Very responsive. Especially, the unit vibrates when I touch the screen, so I know if I touch it correctly or not. Response rate is very good compared to other cheap touch players (I owned cheap touch screen mp4 from other company,,,, it was so hard to touch the item that I wanted)
3. Rotating Screen: The screen rotates as I rotate the unit. I do not have to try to hold it in one direction. Any direction will show correct display. (it actually rotates 360 degree)
4. FM Radio and Transmitter: This is the feature I like the most. Now I can use my player in the car without buying an expensive FM transmitter ($$$$$). Very clear sound throught your car FM radio. You need to plug the ear phone since it will be used as antena
5. Music and Video: supports various formats. Quality is superb. Many of videos need to be resized to be directly played in the player. No problem. There are tons of free conversion software on the net.
6. In-ear metal headphone: WOW... by itselt, it looks so expensive. I found the same one at Fry's at $19.95.. Excellect Noise isolating headphone
7. Drag and Drop: No software needed. Just copy all files from your PC and paste into the player. It will automatically be sorted by the player (Music, Video, pictures, etc)
Cons
1. Even the screen is 3", it is still small for users like me to touch menu correctly with fingers. But Acceptable because it has up and down icons on each menu screen.
2. No accessories other than styus. Could not find protection cover yet.
3. Will update this when I find more bad things about the players
4. No external memory slot. Try one for yourself. It is a pretty solid player. I am satisfied.

G-Sensor G-Sensor technology enables the screen display to rotate based on the player's position. The player can adjust/rotate the screen display (except for the video play) to any direction when you flip the player.

Standard play modes like repeat and shuffle are included, along with A-B repeat play for repeating a specific section of a file.

Video Player Take your favorite videos with you and enjoy them anywhere with the Espresso's brilliant screen. You'll get about four hours of video playback on a single charge.
Once again, the Espresso delivers on format support: AVI, RM/RMVB, FLV, WMV, 3GP, MPG, DAT, and MP4 formats are all supported, so you can enjoy more video with less conversion.
Picture and Text Viewer Browse and view your favorite images in JPEG, BMP and GIF formats. Zoom in and out or play a slideshow for friends.
The Espresso's text viewer lets you change fonts/colors, set and recall bookmarks, and even auto-browse through multiple files in the interval you set.
Naturally, you can keep the tunes rolling while you enjoy these features.
