(More customer reviews)Great product...manufacturer was very helpful in the installation process..first installer said it could not be installed in a Honda van..manufacturer said that it could be done..went to a second installer and he completed it in 2 hours and at a cheaper price..
If you have a professional complete the installation, the manufacturer extends the warrantee from one year to three years...the unit comes in black, but includes the necessary parts to have it be grey or tan. The dvd player sends the signal thru the an FM signal to your radio, so the sound of the dvd player goes thru all the speakers in the radio. Once your child can use headphones, then the signal will go to them, and you then can listen to your radio again!!
Only problem so far is that the remote does not work very easily, but the controls on the front of the unit are very user friendly and easy to get to.
Our daughter loves the dvd player and it keeps her entertained while in the van... I would recommend the Boss DVD player, as it was one third the cost of the dvd player that the car dealer installs and twice the size of the screen..a win..win..

(More customer reviews)i bought this item and was pleased with the screen size. once i installed it, it worked great other than a few things. the speaker is not very loud, and the remote is very odd. no matter where you point the remote it only works part time. the speaker has to be all the way up to hear over road noise. other than thatit worked great....until we were about to leave to come home. no the unit will not play the dvd in it,eject it or anything. its like a dvd is not even inserted. we were watching this movie the day before it messed up. so not only do i have a junk dvd player, but i also am out of a dvd because of this. i will give them a second chance, if they reply to my email quick. maybe i recieved a bad unit? all the other reviews were great for this product.

(More customer reviews)I bought this July 6th 2010. I was leary of the size, quality & lack of any reviews on anything car video. I got it in @ 3 days in a box filled w/ packing, unmarred, & no issues with the monitor or dvd to this date. I will update.
After unboxing it all the way up until it was installed I thought it may be too big and would be too close for the kids. It fits perfectly between the headrests & right behind the overhead light in my Expedition. Kids absolutely love it, picture quality is great, and I can't wait to tailgate with it after I get an external antenna.
FYI
*You will wanna keep the overhead light if possible because there is no door light just manual switches & it sets it back far enough when flipped down that it is not in the front seats vision.
*The bundle with the 2 IR headsets W/ transmitter is a good deal. You do not need the transmitter though as the Monitor already has one built. Reason I put this in is I did not read that on the box for some reason, until about 30 mins of trying to figure out how to wire in and mount (hide) the ugly transmitter did I finally notice it on the box (friend of mine read it & I felt stupid)
*There are no speakers on this unit you must use FM Modulator or Headsets
Installation
Here is what I did to install it if you are interested. I tried looking for something like this before I started but couldn't find anything anywhere. It was a fairly easy install and will save you a small bundle if you got some mechanical ability and a helping hand. Hope this helps.
Removed headliner, centered & riveted a metal mounting plate across 2 roof beams, used expanding foam on plate to reduce noise, robbed power from the overhead lights, cut small hole just right of mouting plate in headliner to drop power cord, reinstalled headliner & secured manufacturer mounting bracket to mounting plate. Here is my one complaint the screws to mount the montior to the bracket are too small. They should have screw studs attached to the mounting backet so you can nut it up, would have been a hell of a lot easier. I had a friend use 2 hole punches to center it and luckily I got one screw to finally catch. That was the hardest part of the hole project and really didnt need to be that difficult. Those little screws make me a little nervous so I'll eventually replace them bigger self tappers that go through the headliner to the mounting plate. It took me @ 6 hrs to complete and I couldn't be happier.

After we had it installed we found out the monitor didn't work so we sent it back ($50+ shipping we had to pay for) and got a new one. Got the 2nd one installed only to find out the DVD player wouldn't read any discs and put nasty scratches on the discs that we tried to play. My husband and I and the installation tech tried to contact PYLE several times and got no answer and no return calls or email responses so we returned the 2nd one (again, another $50+ in shipping we had to pay for). Don't waste your money or your time with this product - it's a piece of junk! And after their lack of support, we'll never buy another PYLE product again.

(More customer reviews)We purchased this player for our Dodge Grand Caravan. We installed it ourselves (my husband is pretty mechanically inclined) and it was fairly hassle-free. We had to actually cut a hole in the headliner because the instructions suggest mounting it over your existing dome light, but in a GC it is too close to the second-row seats and we ended up installing it between the rear HVAC controls and the front ceiling console. You don't need a massive hole for installation and they provide everything you need, including wiring to hook it into an existing video system/sound system if you already have one. The IR works perfectly too - we bought two sets of kid-sized wireless headphones and they work perfectly with the unit. The only issue is the vague instructions (they were obviously NOT written by an English-speaking person, and were not too clear), so unless you are pretty mechanically savvy, it is best to leave installation to a professional.

(More customer reviews)We bought this DVD player to replace the Audiovox that broke in our Suburban. I was surprised how cheaply made it is. It seems very flimsy for kids to be flipping it down and putting DVDs into it. It has been temperamental at times and not powered up, which seems to happen when you have it on and start the car. The FM reciever has a high pitch squeal when it transmits. It is a good thing that the Audiovox headphones still worked with it, or it would be almost impossible to hear the sound. Look for something with a bit better quality and you will be happier.

(More customer reviews)The old saying "you get what you pay for..." applies here. I was told by my local install shop that they refuse to carry this brand any longer. FYI, The install cost was equal to the price of the unit! In the past, these units were always returned and it wasn't worth the trouble. The common problem he stated was what happened in my case. The motor that receives and ejects the DVD goes bad. The other common problem is that the video screen discolors. He also stated that this unit is built in such a way that if by mistake a user inserts a second DVD the unit will receive it and thus jam rendering the DVD function useless.
The good news is that I was able to subscribe to Flo tv so all is not lost. The unit still plays but not Cds and DVDs as intended. I can also go thru the pain in the ass process of ripping a dvd, transferring it to sd card or memory stick which still function and then viewing movies that way. Good luck at finding the correct software to do that. As for popping in a DVD, your views are numbered before the unit craps out.
