(More customer reviews)i bought this item and was pleased with the screen size. once i installed it, it worked great other than a few things. the speaker is not very loud, and the remote is very odd. no matter where you point the remote it only works part time. the speaker has to be all the way up to hear over road noise. other than thatit worked great....until we were about to leave to come home. no the unit will not play the dvd in it,eject it or anything. its like a dvd is not even inserted. we were watching this movie the day before it messed up. so not only do i have a junk dvd player, but i also am out of a dvd because of this. i will give them a second chance, if they reply to my email quick. maybe i recieved a bad unit? all the other reviews were great for this product.

(More customer reviews)I bought this July 6th 2010. I was leary of the size, quality & lack of any reviews on anything car video. I got it in @ 3 days in a box filled w/ packing, unmarred, & no issues with the monitor or dvd to this date. I will update.
After unboxing it all the way up until it was installed I thought it may be too big and would be too close for the kids. It fits perfectly between the headrests & right behind the overhead light in my Expedition. Kids absolutely love it, picture quality is great, and I can't wait to tailgate with it after I get an external antenna.
FYI
*You will wanna keep the overhead light if possible because there is no door light just manual switches & it sets it back far enough when flipped down that it is not in the front seats vision.
*The bundle with the 2 IR headsets W/ transmitter is a good deal. You do not need the transmitter though as the Monitor already has one built. Reason I put this in is I did not read that on the box for some reason, until about 30 mins of trying to figure out how to wire in and mount (hide) the ugly transmitter did I finally notice it on the box (friend of mine read it & I felt stupid)
*There are no speakers on this unit you must use FM Modulator or Headsets
Installation
Here is what I did to install it if you are interested. I tried looking for something like this before I started but couldn't find anything anywhere. It was a fairly easy install and will save you a small bundle if you got some mechanical ability and a helping hand. Hope this helps.
Removed headliner, centered & riveted a metal mounting plate across 2 roof beams, used expanding foam on plate to reduce noise, robbed power from the overhead lights, cut small hole just right of mouting plate in headliner to drop power cord, reinstalled headliner & secured manufacturer mounting bracket to mounting plate. Here is my one complaint the screws to mount the montior to the bracket are too small. They should have screw studs attached to the mounting backet so you can nut it up, would have been a hell of a lot easier. I had a friend use 2 hole punches to center it and luckily I got one screw to finally catch. That was the hardest part of the hole project and really didnt need to be that difficult. Those little screws make me a little nervous so I'll eventually replace them bigger self tappers that go through the headliner to the mounting plate. It took me @ 6 hrs to complete and I couldn't be happier.

(More customer reviews)i was actually dumb enough to install two of these. the first one i purchased on amazon. it was professionally installed. it worked for about an hour. then the sound works but no picture. just a blue screen. amazon like always was great with the replacement. they emailed me a return label for the old dvd player and overnighted a new one and i got it the next day. i had the old one removed and the new one installed at the same time. this one does not work either. the second one i got has a different problem. it works for about 30 minutes and then powers off. it does turn back on, on its own. it restarts the dvd were it left off. but then only plays for about 2 minutes at a time after that and powers off and on. i have spent a lot of money on install on these. ugh!! i just want a dvd for the kids in the van to keep them happy.

After we had it installed we found out the monitor didn't work so we sent it back ($50+ shipping we had to pay for) and got a new one. Got the 2nd one installed only to find out the DVD player wouldn't read any discs and put nasty scratches on the discs that we tried to play. My husband and I and the installation tech tried to contact PYLE several times and got no answer and no return calls or email responses so we returned the 2nd one (again, another $50+ in shipping we had to pay for). Don't waste your money or your time with this product - it's a piece of junk! And after their lack of support, we'll never buy another PYLE product again.

(More customer reviews)I bought the PLRD-92 and I have to say, that it DOES have a built in IR Transmitter. I bought a set of wireless headphones and they work GREAT. the sound quality is excellent, even to the Radio thru the built in FM Transmitter. I contacted PYLE prior to making this purchase and they told me that the unit DOES come with built in IR Transmitter. I don't understand why people here on Amazon reviews are saying otherwise. You do have to keep in mind that wireless headphones ONLY work when they are in-front of the unit, not behind it. it is a safety feature to keep people from using the wireless heaphones while driving. The side with the LED lights on this unit should be facing back, because it is on that side of the unit that the IR sensors are located. The signal to the headphones is automatically disconnected when the headphones go past the point where the IR sensor is located. again, ITS A SAFETY FEATURE. I am very happy with my PLRD-92 and HIGHLY reccomend it to anyone in search of an affordable Pulldown DVD player for their vehicle.

I purchased this Pyle DVD headrest to replace a similar looking non-branded DVD headrest that I purchased on ebay that only lasted 30days before the display went out. I will never get burned by ebay and questionable sellers with no warrany and a 7-day return policy again. Note: I wasn't able to leave feedback to warn others on ebay because it was past 30days. Ebay simply said Oh-well, that's our policy.
This Pyle DVD headrest has a 1 year warranty and it has the video/audio in/out cables to connect 2 of these DVD headrest in the car. The kids love the option of watching their own movie or watching the same movie. Our kids are 6 and 8, so my wife or I usually have to get the movies going because the remote might be confusing, at least until they get used to it.
The Pyle DVD headrest is better quality than the ebay unit I replaced. For example, the hinge is more robust and the flat, flexible ribbon cables have a strain relief and guide to prevent damage. All around it seems that Pyle's engineering specified a higher end product. The instruction manual is also better than the off-brand unit that I have.
The IR headphones that we had from the previous headrest work perfect with the Pyle DVD headrest and have both A and B channels. I wish Pyle included a set.
Don't buy it for the games.

(More customer reviews)I installed this in a '07 Hyundai Accent. This is about as big as you can get for a small car like that and it seems to match well. Anything bigger would have been gaudy. The A/V cable plugs into a shorter integrated cable in the headrest. You will need to thread the A/V cable up the seat, plug it into the headrest, and then install the headrest. The easiest way to do this is to use coat hanger wire to push some dental floss down the seat ("Dental floss??"). Once the dental floss is down the seat and on the floor of the car, thread the floss through the end of the cable. Yes, you will see two small molding holes in the connector. Thread the floss through these holes, tie off the floss, and pull the cable up. My headrest holes had zero clearance for the A/V cable and dental floss is thin enough to get through the gap. Connect the A/V cable to the integrated cable in the headrest and then push the headrest down.
The manual is written in broken Chinese English. It's not hard to figure out how to use this display though.
Adjusting the headrest poles is not easy. The manual's description sounds awful but it absolutely works. You will need to grab the poles in each of your hands and work them forward and backward. The manual calls this "walking the poles". Do this while squeezing them inward or pulling them outward. It is extremely awkward to do. I got the spacing right but the poles ended up being slightly off center by 1/2". No biggie.
One neat thing about this display is that if you turn the car off momentarily with the monitor on then the monitor will turn back on when you turn the car back on. I suppose it recovers to its last known state? I haven't tested how long it retains this memory.
Remember, this is a 9" screen. It's not meant for hi-def. It's meant to entertain a back seat passenger (i.e. a kid). My four and a half year old enjoyed watching his movie on this display. My video source was an iPad with the compositive A/V cable set. The audio was fed into my car stereo's aux input.
If installation was a little less awkward then I would have given this a 5 star rating.
