I bought this usb fm transmitter because I got tiered of burning cd's with my mixes, if i wanted to add one song i would have to reburn it. RW's go bad and take time. This is just drag and drop. Also i don't want keep plugin in my mp3 player into my cars line in jack. Also with an mp3 player you have to remember to have it in the car, i don't like leaving it in the car because if its stolen im out $100 i believe. This one is 15.
The reason i purchased this specific transmitter was because it was in the middle. It had very little reviews but the v3 had negative ones. I was also considering the soundfly, but that was twice as expensive and had problems of its own.
Product review:
Design: its nice and compacted. it lays flat when stored but can bend so you see the tiny screen. The joint is very good. bends easy but stays where you put it. Also for the remote to work well you have to point it at the screen. its line of sight.
Sound quality: Better then nothing. It's a like listened to a radio what do you expect. I think its mono. I haven't put my ear to the speakers yet.
Folder/saving: It seems to only recognize 13 folder. I only had it for about a day. haven't played with it enough to see how many total songs it can recognize and it the folder names have something to do with it. Update it wasn't recognizing the folders because the files were not mp3 files. Lets see if this works.
Playback: i haven't found a rhyme or reason for the order it plays the folders in or the songs in said folder.
After more testing will change review or if nothing happens will not.
Bottom line:
All usb fm transmitter have problems. You have to way them against their price. Until Sony or another big company starts making them this is what we have to live with. If you want better sound and a larger screen buy an after market radio that has a usb port built in, the only problem is that they run about 100 - 150 + installation unless you are confident in your weiring skills. I would just get a friend to do it for some "soda".
If people at Sony are reading this PLEASE make one. However you must add a quality instruction manual and detailed explanation of how the folders/songs are ordered. A better improvement would be the ability to choose the order name or date added and finally a LINE-OUT. Thats a $30 product.
