(More customer reviews)I have tried a Garmin 680 and a Tom Tom Go 720. You can argue back/forth about the gps abilities of the two brands, but there is one BIG negative that the Garmin has vs. Tom Tom. The Garmin navigation screen is pretty, but information poor. No distance to objective. No speed. No miles travelled. No street names as you pass them. And no option to see any of that except by slecting a different screen. Tom Tom lets you see all of that on the navigation screen. If you never had it, you may not miss it. Once you have had it, if you buy a Garmin, you will regret doing it.

SIRIUS ST4-TK1 Starmate 4 Plug-and-Play Satellite Radio Receiver with Car Kit Review

(More customer reviews)Overall, the Starmate 4 is OK, but it has some significant design flaws that some thoughtful engineering could have easily fixed. I wish I had bought the Sportster 4. First, unlike the Sportster 4, this model does NOT incorporate the Auxillary Input feature for plugging in your MP3 player or other audio devices. Many of the online merchants advertise this, but it is not present on the Starmate 4 car dock. The addition of the Starmate 4 dock increases the size of the Starmate, which is thinner than previous models, but is now functionally larger in size because of the addition of the dock. A major design flaw (in my opinion) is that the antenna, power and auxillary output from the car dock are located on the back of the unit, rather than the bottom or sides. So, although the unit is physically thinner than previous models, by the time you install it, it is functionally thicker than previous models. In short, the footprint of the new Starmate is larger than previous models when you factor in the docking cradle and the location of the antenna, power, and audio connections. Since I bought this unit for a smaller footprint than the Sportster 4, I am dissappointed. I had hoped to install it flush with my dashboard by attaching velcro to the back of the unit similar to the way you could with the Starmate Replay.
The positive is that it DOES have a docking cradle which makes it much easier to move from the car to the home. If you don't need to move the unit around, then the Starmate 4 does not have any functionality that doesn't exist in the Starmate Replay. The addition on an auxillary input jack similar to the Sportster 4 would have offered a significant upgrade. If the designers for the next generation of radios are listening, I'd suggest spending time thinking about how people actually have to install these devices. Place the connectors on the bottom or sides of the docking cradle or provide a method of giving the user options. My 2006 Prius does not have any smooth surfaces for using the suction cup except for the windshield which slopes too much to allow convenient installation. Likewise the air conditioning vents don't work well in my vehicle for installation. Frankly, I'm sorry I spent the extra money for this unit. But, if you want a unit that can be moved easily from car to home, this is a good option. For flexibility, the Sportster 4 might be a better option since it does supply additional functionality for the same price.
Update: I've had this for 9-months now and it has worked flawlessly. However, I stand by my human factors design concerns stated in the initial review and think that a dock design could be created to give the user options for where the wires plug into the dock. We all jury-rig these radios into our cars, regardless of our personal preferences. The design of the radio, combined with the configuration of my car (Prius), required that I purchase an aftermarket windshield mount since the one that came with the radio would not work in my car.

Griffin iTalk Pro - Microphone Review

I needed to record a meeting and certainly preferred the option of that recording then becoming a digital file (visible to and stored in ITunes). Once attached to the IPod, it was a couple of clicks to simply begin recording. The two pieces of equipment 'recognized' one another without a hitch. I recorded a 40-minute meeting, came home, connected my IPod to my computer and - snap - the recorded 'memo' immediately downloaded from the IPod to ITunes. The sound quality is fine (I didn't use an additional microphone) and I especially like having a permanant copy of this meeting in a digital format. I should note this was an interview in a quiet room where the IPod was placed between two people on a desk. No ambient noises to be concerned about, no long distances to cover. Will it work under those conditions? I don't know. But it did what I needed it to do. Very handy. FYI, I recorded in 'high' quality and the file size was about 400 MB. My experience has been that Griffin delivers quality products that integrate well with Apple products. No muss, no fuss.

(More customer reviews)There's really not much to review but I figured I would counter the other (misguided) review on this item. The charger works just as fine for powering the Zune while in the car. I pretty much leave my Zune in the car and this lets me do that without having to periodically bring it inside for charging. The part that goes into the cigarette lighter is rather large so take that into account if you have any kind of obstructions around your power socket. The only other thing I noticed that surprized me a little was that the Zune display stays on when connected to the charger and playing music. There's nothing really wrong with that but I was just expecting the screen to go dark like it does when it is not connected to power. Oh, I also like the coiled cord which makes things a bit tidier than having a lot of loose cable cluttering up the console area. I recommend this product.

(More customer reviews)I easily installed the Car kit in little time. Having a stereo though with no Auxiliary input I am relying on the FM transmitter. Living in a large but not to large metropolitan area I have trouble finding an open frequency thus giving interferance quite often. Even when having good reception I find that the trasmitter is quiter than a normal radio station (although you can set the transmition volume). Overall the kit is good.
