(More customer reviews)Purchased this after a long search and many visits to Car Toys and other auto accessory stores. The product took me only 90 minutes to install; most of this time was spent pulling out the stereo head unit (an HU-605 in my 2006 Volvo S80).
It works very well with the IPod; the only complaints:
1) Sometimes when you start the car; the system skips around and the stereo displays "CD Changer Load Discs". It takes about 5 seconds and then it works fine.
2) If you try and quickly change the "CD" (which changes the playlist) the unit can become confused, and it takes a few seconds to recover its mind.
Other than that, it works well and I'm happily listening to my ipod; and my sirius radio through the AUX input on the unit.

The PA11 series iPod interfaces provide direct connection for an iPod plus an optional audio source such as satellite radio, DVD, or video game system. Both the iPod and the additional audio source are selected from the factory radioâ??s front panel. SanDisk Sansa Speaker Dock for Sansa e100 and m200 Series Players Review

(More customer reviews)Like other reviewers, I was impressed with the sound out of such seemingly small speakers. However, my Sansa is much newer (e280, and apparently not backward compatible with all the accesories...) and it did not fit on the dock or in the clips - nor did any of the additional connection configurations work to power/charge the player while playing it through the speakers. The headphone jack connector worked to play the music from my player through the speakers, but that was it. So, my recommendation is that this system is great if you have the correct version of the Sansa player. If not, the jumble of cords and lack of charging capability make this system less desirable. I am returning mine and plan to buy something that my Sansa will dock into directly.
UPDATE: I purchased the Altec Lansing im510 Dock for my e280 Sansa at Best Buy and it sounds (and charges) great. It's about $80 now.

(More customer reviews)I puchased this a couple of weeks ago and recently had them installed in a BMW X3 (SUV). These are a great value for aftermarket dvd players, I did a lot of review/research and nothing beat this deal. They look and play great; I'm sure they will get a ton of quality viewing time for the kids and hopefully a little bit of peace for the parents in the front seat. I tried out the game feature and they are pretty old school, I wouldn't expect these to entertain serious gamer type kids for very long, but it's a nice added feature that most didn't have. Product also comes with a remote control which is a nice if you have little ones that can't operate the video's on their own. I'm not a handy person, so I called around for installation and in my area (SF) labor is pretty expensive (I had several quotes for $250); so I purchased an installation card from Crutchfield for $160. I would recommend this option if you're like me, they will hook you up with a local install shop and mine turned out very professional. My only minor ding about the product is the post of the headrest are smaller than the factory post so the shop had to compensate for that, basically using electrically tape to make the product snug. Anyway overall I was able to get a really nice DVD system for a excellent price and very happy with the purchase.

(More customer reviews)Both the Amazon product description and the enclosed documentation are short on information about the technology used, so I thought I'd share what I found out.
The unit broadcasts on some FM frequency. When I turned on the receiver without turning on the transmitter, I was getting some FM station, but I didn't track down which one. So this is like an MP3/iPhone FM transmitter you would find in a car, with many of the same characteristics.
Because the units are AC powered, and not limited in size, they can work a little better than the car versions. When I turn on the transmitter, the FM station completely disappeared, so the unit is putting out a good signal. When I had the units about 20 ft apart in line of site, they worked very well. I had to turn the volume up on the receiving end, which indicates they aren't modulating the signal very much. When I tried the usage I really wanted, not so good. Transmitting through a wall added some noise, and walking around near the signal path generated noisy interference. Transmitting from one floor to another generated too much noise.
It may be that providing a line level signal to the transmitter would provide better modulation, but most computers these days only have a headphone output. The signal problems result from using a low power FM frequency, which is probably the only way they can provide this functionality for such a low price. (Be sure to follow the instructions to have the two antennas parallel as this polarization makes a big difference for FM signals.)
The product basically works as advertised. It has limited (unspecified) range, and really wants line of sight, so the range drops dramatically through a wall. The music quality at its best is typical of low power FM transmitters. The nice thing about it is that it's so cheap that it may be worth a try if you need to remote some music. But don't count on it.

The principle of the item is well thought out and if build quality could match concept they would have an excellent piece of kit. I found the whip to be loose and over a short period of time had dropped to below the horizontal no matter what angle it started, the nano would disconnect if a bump was incountered and the real killer for this item was as I removed it from my 12 volt socket for the first time the end of the 'plastic' socket snapped off with internal spring and fuse flying across the car. Over all I was very disappointed, the cost of the charger does not reflect the build quality, if you are tossing up between this and another product go the other brand, or just get the car charger cable. I found the air play transmitter work well when it wasn't moving around in the shoddy charger. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

(More customer reviews)I was impressed by most of the equipment in this package - except for the fact that nothing came with any instructions. Probably most people would know how to unfold the Foldable Speaker and use it, and run the LCD FM Transmitter - but I did not. Having instructions would have helped me figure things out a lot faster. Also, the two screen protectors were worthless. Firstly, I could not get the sticky tabs off the protectors. The paper came off but I was left with two tab-sized gluey surfaces that left sticky spots on my iTouch screen. The tabs were unnecessary, anyway, the way the protector was packaged. Secondly, the screen protectors didn't stick to the surface of the iTouch screen so I couldn't use them. Again, the instructions were vague at best. I loved the silicone skin cases, especially the pink and blue cases. They did cover the lovely metal back on my iTouch, but they looked great on. Aside from these two problems it's a fairly good buy.

It has a screen protector, and it is made of hard plastic. It snaps on and off easily for cleaning. It doesn't cover any thing it shouldn't be covering up, so you have access to all of the ports for charging or for the headphones.
Overall this is a great product and very reasonably priced.

It works, good sound. However, some car stereos (most new models) are NOT fooled, and you get an error message on screen, which you have to clear (typically by taping a button on the car stereo) every time you switch it on.

(More customer reviews)I'm thankful I bought this product at Costco, because I could take it back for a full refund. The idea is appealing, and a good deal - you get a lot for a good price. But on closer inspection, there are a couple of significant problems:
1. The contents are redundant.
- Cassette adapter gives better sound than FM transmitter in many cases. If you have a car with a cassette player, you wouldn't need the FM transmitter. If your car doesn't have a cassette player, why would you buy a package with a cassette adapter in it?
- Similarly, at home, you'd get better sound on your stereo by using the cables vs the FM transmitter, even if you do have a tuner.
So unless you plan on using your ipod in a car with a cassette player, a car without a cassette player, and with your home stereo system, having cables, a cassette adapter and the FM transmitter is redundant. You may come out cheaper by buying the components you need separately.
2. The case is TERRIBLE! Honestly, if the case had been good, I would've overlooked the redundancy and likely kept the entire package. But the case was a key component for me. The case in this package covers the iPod on the front, back, sides, and bottom. Since the belt clip swivels, to prevent the iPod from falling out of the top, the case has a suction cup (no joke!) on the inside of the back panel. The case opens up in a flip-down style by un-velcro-ing the side panels. You nest your iPod into the case, sticking it to the suction cup, flip the front of the case into postion, and stick the side velcro strips together. Between the case itself, the suction cup, and the bulky belt clip, the iPod is more than twice as thick in the case as it is alone. It's also significantly wider.
My advice - keep shopping.

(More customer reviews)Firstly, let me state up front my one major gripe about this DVD player: the documentation is not very spectacular, especially the documentation regarding the installation. There is an included wiring diagram (12V+/-, Dome Light, RCAs for input/output, etc.) but no template for cutting the headliner, no pictures describing how to install, etc. I recognize that this sort of thing is probably not made with the do-it-yourself-er in mind, but some rudimentary instructions would have been appreciated so I wouldn't have had to make it up as I went along!
Having said that, however, the thing works pretty darn well. The DVD player itself is integrated into the back of the LCD screen and works similarly to a DVD player in a computer - pop open the lid and press the DVD down onto the spindle locking it in place, then close the lid. The DVD motor is fairly quiet and the disk loads quickly. The screen opens to about 90° and rotates around the central metal post so that it can be aimed at the driver or passenger... a nice feature when you need to adjust something on the screen and your backseat children are too little to use the remote.
The FM transmitter has a small range of frequencies that can used to interface directly with your car's FM tuner, but the frequencies don't extend the full range of the FM spectrum, so it's conceivable that you might not be able to find a station in your area that is sufficiently devoid of FM signal; this means that the FM transmitter might not work spectacularly in your area because of interference with other stations. If you turn the FM transmitter off, you have the option of playing the sound through the small speakers included in the unit that lie directly underneath the hollow that the folded screen occupies. These speakers are of average quality and low volume, so they probably will not be spectacularly functional during noisy highway driving. There is an RCA line-out that can be used to interface with an existing input on the car's stereo, if one happens to be present.
The included USB port seems to work quite well - choosing this input brings up a file-browser menu that allows you to select the file that you wish to view. I tested the functionality with two movies that were encoded using the XVID (open-source DivX-equivalent) codec and the movies played extremely well.
The build quality feels a little cheap, but one must remember that this is a budget model. The good news is that the USB functionality helps to guarantee that player will continue to be useful in the event that the DVD drive ceases to work.
